Historia
When a car crash sidelines Mickey just before softball season, she has to find a way to hold on to her spot as the catcher for a team expected to make a historic tournament run. Behind the plate is the only place she’s ever felt comfortable, and the painkillers she’s been prescribed can help her get there. The pills do more than take away pain; they make her feel good. But as the pressure to be Mickey Catalan heightens, her need increases, and it becomes less about pain and more about want, something that could send her spiraling out of control.

A moving story of teen addiction
Revisado: 07-29-24
I enjoyed this book immensely. The way the author weaves their words to pull you in, is like a game of tug of war on your heart. I finished this in two days. I kept wondering what would happen to the main character even though the opening pages told me what I was waiting to unfold. Fantastic book! Trigger warning: addiction and drug use

Historia
God is change. That is the central truth of the Earthseed movement, whose unlikely prophet is 18-year-old Lauren Olamina. The young woman's diary entries tell the story of her life amid a violent 21st-century hell of walled neighborhoods and drug-crazed pyromaniacs - and reveal her evolving Earthseed philosophy. Against a backdrop of horror emerges a message of hope: if we are willing to embrace divine change, we will survive to fulfill our destiny among the stars.

Butler is a phenomenal story teller. From the first chapter I was enthralled and couldn’t stop listening. I could not recommend this book more! Fantastic book!

They feel a tugging on their hearts for something more, but they’re afraid of embarrassment, of falling short of perfection, of not being enough. This book was amaze balls!!!! Rach is so real, it’s like I’ve known her my entire life. She’s not scared to be vulnerable and her narration is like a conversation among friends. Well done!
