Thomas was a part-time freelancer and part-time floundering streamer for the MMORPG King of Death. A super mediocre game that he mastered so much that end-game raids were solo adventures! The queen of the underworld! The tall, buff, and beautiful hellhound Mira! But when she shows up on Level 1, he'll have to use his expert knowledge of the game.

For someone, just not me
Revisado: 11-19-24
The idea of this book likely came from someone who has watched too much MC is OP anime and thought they could easily write one. Not that there's anything wrong with it. There's not a lot of world building and reads like someone describing what's on screen as they watch said anime.
Sierra Kline does a great job for the female characters but doesn't have the range for multiple male characters. I'll grant she didn't have much to work with as she also had to read onomatopoeias out like they were pulled straight off a comic book page.
A major problem with spicy scenes in several harem novels are that they're often written by people who are either terrible at setting the scene or who don't exactly have a lot of experience with spiciness in real life. This definitely reads like the latter.
Overall a meh entry in the genre.

When I inherited my grandfather's magic shop, I wasn't exactly thrilled. I have plans, and inheriting a magic shop in a sleepy, mysterious little town isn't one of them. Fun story, bad male narration
Revisado: 08-30-23
Story is good. A little too much fixation on the concept of virginity in the people he's with by the writer. Makes me think it's a red pill dude obsessed with "body counts" that wrote it. The male narrator though... you can tell when he gets to the end of a line on the page. He'll be reading with a good fluid pace, then put a pause in between two words that shouldn't have a pause there. And it happens quite a bit when he's narrating. The female narration is above average. Decent distinct voices. Accents are kinda bad but nowhere near the worst I've heard.

Finally getting past book 1
Revisado: 03-03-23
Fantastic story! Sexy scenes were pretty good overall. Wasn't a huge fan of the male narrator, as he chose a slightly deeper voice than I would anticipate for the MC, but it's easy to look past the further into the book you get. World building is really good. I enjoy how the author does a good job of introducing new information without it coming off like he's reading it from an encyclopedia or something. Too often authors become robotic in that sense of world building but JR does a good job of making it feel relevant and smooth. Overall, really enjoying the series and looking forward to more! I hope these narrators stick around for good.
I did receive this book for free, and this is my honest, unbiased opinion. Idk what the disclaimer is supposed to say, but yeah, I got it for free, I enjoyed it, this is my review.

It was a day like any other when suddenly the world changed. The universe reached a threshold humanity didn’t even know existed, and it was time to finally be integrated into the vast multiverse. A place where power is the only thing anyone can truly rely on.

Exceptionally ordinary
Revisado: 07-29-22
The story being told in this book didn't exactly have me listening closely because of how lackluster everything was going on around it. The author doesn't know how to really create tension, but tries way too hard to do so. It's way longer than it needs to be without getting a lot of world building as a result. This book has about the same amount of story as many of the 8-10 hour harem fantasy/litrpg novels that get cranked out by some authors. All that said, the times that there was story and disposition, it was pretty good.

Fantastic bridge book
Revisado: 01-10-22
Definitely enjoyed this book a lot! Almost gives off vibes of Star Wars Rogue One. Almost like a sequel to the first three books but will serve as a prequel to the next X amount of books.
And to all the people in the reviews crying about the "america bad" stuff in this book, lighten the fuck up and take off the rose colored glasses. As a USAF vet, I can say with confidence that the US isn't exactly the beacon of awesome that everyone thinks it is. A lot of you are taking personal offense to this when there's a LOT of nuance involved. His criticism is of our government's foreign policy, which has been shit for over 20 years now. *spoilers* The US government's magic offices essentially try to strong arm Jason into their employ the same way the ACTUAL US government tries to strong arm literally everything else around the world. So stop being so goddamn offended when the shit in the real world is accurately depicted in a fantasy world.

I couldn't make it that far... it's so bad...
Revisado: 12-17-21
Tell me you've never engaged in an alternative relationship (BDSM, Polyamory, etc) without telling me you've never been in one. That's the vibes I got from this book. The dialog is POORLY written. What makes the dialog even worse is the cadence by which it is narrated. It's not "voice acted" like many books are done on here. It literally sounds like they're just reading it. And the cut ins for the "he saids" between dialog have a drastically different sound, volume, etc. you can tell they're just patched in.
I would have given this 5 stars if there was a category for "Cringe Factor." I really wish I could have made it to the actual meat and potatoes of the story, but damn the cringe was strong with this book.

All I wanted to do was take a break from college to check out LegendFest, some good ol' cosplay, and maybe find a lady to hit it off with. My life took a new direction, though, when I found out myths like Red Riding Hood are real, and they’re in an ongoing war against evil to save us all. More than that, they are being hunted, mistaken as humanity's enemy. They need a mortal to serve as their protector, someone to keep them out of harm's way while leading the battle against the likes of the Big Bad Wolf, Baba Yaga, and other evil legends. Now, I am that protector.

The author REALLY needs to expand his vocabulary
Revisado: 04-08-21
The actual meat of the story isn't bad. While I normally don't gravitate towards "harem" books, I've read a few and usually that aspect of the story telling is usually done with a lot more class than what Jamie Hawke has done with this book. To the author, if you read this, PLEASE expand your vocabulary. I promise you, the words "cock" and "pussy" are not the only two words for those body parts. The way the narrator is forced to use these words makes him sound like a "bro" talking about his last sexual encounter rather than trying to allure the reader/listener into immersing themselves in what's going on.
That in combination with the fact that they use the word "normies" tells me that Jamie Hawke is an 8chan surfing neckbeard who thinks that women are Pokémon and he's just there to "catch'em all."
