Historia
50 years ago, a group of college friends dabbled in the occult and released a malign presence on the world. Now, on his deathbed, the last of the students, now a trustee of Reister University, enlists the aid of three newcomers to banish the thing they summoned. Russian anthropologist Anna Rykov, doctor Harry Lamb, and Father Sean O’Malley are all indebted to the ailing trustee for their positions. Together, they pursue the knowledge and resources needed to perform the ritual.

Historia
In Foundation the chronicler of London and of its river, the Thames, takes us from the primeval forests of England's prehistory to the death of the first Tudor king, Henry VII, in 1509. He guides us from the building of Stonehenge to the founding of the two great glories of medieval England: common law and the cathedrals. He shows us glimpses of the country's most distant past - a Neolithic stirrup found in a grave, a Roman fort, a Saxon tomb, a medieval manor house.

Any additional comments?
The narrator reads each. and. every. single. sentence. the. exact. same. way.
I mean every sentence. The same monotonous way. The last word of ever sentence with the same inflection. The first word of every sentence with the same inflection. The only difference is that the first word of the sentence sounds different than the middle words which, in turn, sound different than the last word. But every sentence is the same. You don't know when you've reached the end of a paragraph. You don't know what the whole point of it all is with everything droning on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on....

Horrible Narration
Revisado: 07-05-11
I bought this book because I'm a fan of sci-fi and fantasy and Sookie Stackhouse is a popular book that I hadn't read or listened to.
The book may or may not be good. I would not know because I couldn't get through more than an hour and a half of this audiobook. I just couldn't stand to listen to any more.
The character, Sookie Stackhouse, is supposed to be from rural Louisiana and the book is written in the first person. The narrator, Johanna Parker, adopts a hideously affected southern accent. It sounds bad--very, very bad. It does not sound like anybody from Louisiana that I have ever met (and I've met hundreds of them). She places emphasis on the last word of every sentence for no particular reason. It is just unbearable.
Fortunately, I got this on sale. I just removed the title from my iPhone and never looked back.
