Historia
A sophisticated, pause-resisting double love story spanning 40 years-an unforgettable Brief Encounter for our times. It is 1960. When Jennifer Stirling wakes up in the hospital, she can remember nothing-not the tragic car accident that put her there, not her husband, not even who she is. She feels like a stranger in her own life until she stumbles upon an impassioned letter, signed simply "B", asking her to leave her husband. Years later, in 2003, a journalist named Ellie discovers the same enigmatic letter in a forgotten file in her newspaper's archives.

Refreshing Love Story
Revisado: 06-25-23
Heartbreakingly poignant. I appreciated the author showing that a love story may not always go as planned. But that there are many types of love. And reasons to love. Also, the narrator was perfectly chosen. She conveyed love, warmth and sophistication.

Historia
Two men, each handsome and unusually adept at his chosen work, embodied an element of the great dynamic that characterized America’s rush toward the twentieth century. The architect was Daniel Hudson Burnham, the fair’s brilliant director of works and the builder of many of the country’s most important structures, including the Flatiron Building in New York and Union Station in Washington, D.C. The murderer was Henry H. Holmes, a young doctor who, in a malign parody of the White City, built his “World’s Fair Hotel” just west of the fairgrounds.

I didn’t know this book would also include so much information. Into the main players and designers of Chicago’s World Fair. A very interesting read all around

Historia
Lily and her ex-husband, Ryle, have just settled into a civil coparenting rhythm when she suddenly bumps into her first love, Atlas, again. After nearly two years separated, she is elated that for once, time is on their side, and she immediately says yes when Atlas asks her on a date. But her excitement is quickly hampered by the knowledge that, though they are no longer married, Ryle is still very much a part of her life—and Atlas Corrigan is the one man he will hate being in his ex-wife and daughter’s life.

Couldn’t even finish listening to the book. The only good decision I made in listening to this was to not waste my time any longer.

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. And when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life seems too good to be true.

Can’t fathom how anyone liked this book
Revisado: 06-07-23
The only good line in this book was why are women blamed for being abused instead of the abuser. Sadly, by the end of the book my sympathies were with the abuser.
The “heroine” of the story was trite, self righteous and infantile. I kept listening to it hoping it would get better since it was so highly rated. It didn’t. This is my second- and last- Colleen Hoover book.
Save your time and money.

Such a disappointment!!
Revisado: 11-10-21
This book had promise and was such a disappointment! Spoiler alert!
I listened to this book and was intrigued. The narrator did a great job. The story had a great twist and had the possibly of redeeming the main character and fell so far short of the mark.Annie-- the main character-rendered herself selfless, self absorbed and utterly useless learning nothing from the parasitic life she had lived. She stole her dead friends identity, love interest and lived off her good looks her entire life learning nothing in the end. Rather then help rectify a young girls murder, and het friends death and stolen identity, she ran away with her millions and her dead friends loved to find her adopted daughter with no though on if her daughter wanted ti be found or respecting the parents that had actually raised her.
The only redeeming quality of this book is the narrators voice and the fact it was short. Such a disappointment when it had a lot of potential

Historia
Before The Company, Robert Littell made a name for himself with The Defection of A.J. Lewinter. Hailed as "a perfect little gem" and a "concise, smart, and funny [novel that] turns Cold War spy cliches on their head," A.J. Lewinter tells the story of an insignificant American scientist whose defection to the Soviet Union becomes a terrifying political chess match of deceit and treachery. Not to be missed!

Great story of the game of Cold War Espionage.
Revisado: 03-14-03
I have to admit that spy novels and espionage is my genre of choice, but this is another great "read" (listen) from Robert Littell. As always he has many characters to keep track of, but masterfully pulls them all together to end the book. If you liked "The Company" you will like this book.
