Thanks Reyna Lynn for this excellent book that takes the reader through a tour of the Mediterranean to better understand the way of life for locals there, the simple and easy ways to incorporate their healthy food preparation, exercise and living habits into Western life. I really appreciate how detailed and practical this book went so that even a beginner like me, with no prior understanding, can come away well-informed and ready to transform their life and eating with these foods and strategies. Having a meal plan and simple exercise routine outlined takes away all the excuses for not getting started right away! I highly recommend this book to those who want to improve their health and embrace a more simple and balanced way of approaching food and wellness, whether trying to lose weight in the process or not.

Reading 3 Stolen Rights by Linda Young was incredibly eye-opening in understanding the background of a very toxic person in my life. Through listening to this audiobook I recognized what that person had been through in the past and how their way of relating to me is the direct result of childhood abuse. Although this does not change my need to remain separate from this person and their dangerous ways of relating to me, it does help me view them from a more compassionate place. I would highly recommend this book to survivors of childhood abuse who now find themselves struggling in close relationships, as well as to those who are friends or family of someone on a healing journey from their past woundedness.

I am especially appreciative of the explanation within this book of how to determine who is a safe person versus an unsafe person. This information resonated with me deeply and gave me a deep understanding of a previous relationship that I intuitively knew was not good for me but was drawn into nonetheless.

This book is an incredible resource for those wanting to get through and retain more information through reading. Knight enlightened me to understand better how the eyes and the brain work together. It's so interesting! I love books but I have a terrible habit of starting them but not being able to finish. I have a feeling that's about to change! I highly recommend "Speed Reading" to anyone who wants to absorb more information for whatever reason. I see this being an especially beneficial book for students.

What I especially loved about this book was the in-depth discussion on why juicing is such a beneficial practice to take on-from weight loss to clearer skin to detoxing and better health in general; there is undoubtedly a benefit for everyone. I had tried juicing in the past but I realized when reading this book that I wasn't using the right tools and that's why my juices were not very good and I couldn't stick to the routine. The author addresses many issues that come up so if you have, like me, tried it before but wrote it off, this book will give you a reason or 5 to reconsider. Highly recommend it!

The strength of this book is that it dives head first to address the brokenness of a woman from living and growing up in a world that can be harsh and damaging to her heart. Author Jonry Heyce makes a good point that you can't expect to land yourself in a healthy relationship if you haven't done the inner work to heal and discover your own identity before seeking a partner. Heyce champions self-discovery as the cornerstone for building healthy relationships and helps the reader to address past pain and identify what you personally need from a relationship before putting yourself out there to be discovered by a potential partner. I wholeheartedly agree with this approach and recommend this book for that reason. The reader will appreciate the stories scattered throughout the book that give body and shape to the content being presented.

As a single parent of kids 4 and 6, I found this book immensely beneficial. I particularly enjoyed the section about types of parenting styles so that I could determine where I fit in and the impact my discipline is likely to have as my children grow older. With many very real and relatable examples, Alfie Thomas clearly shows what discipline is, how it differs from punishment, and the appropriate ways a parent can lovingly discipline to raise responsible, well-adjusted and caring kids to adulthood. It was helpful to have each age group: toddlers, preschoolers, and young children specifically addressed. The narrator has a very nice voice and was very expressive, which kept me engaged in the content.

I recommend this book for parents who find they are yelling more than they'd like to be, those who are frustrated with misbehaviour, and those who just want to ensure they are paving a good road forward.

In “Mission is Now”, Author Ima Archibong illustrates the dynamics of living a supernatural life of faith in Jesus. With an encouraging tone, Archibong lays out the specifics of a life centred around Christian community, consistent Bible reading, worship, personal prayer and fasting. However, she pleads with the reader that THERE IS MORE as she dives into story after story the miraculous, from the seemingly small mercy of being shown hospitality in a new country, to the amazing account of a young boy coming back to life.

With warmth and nurturing, Archibong explains simply and eloquently how anyone who wants to follow Jesus can partner with Him to live an extraordinary life of love and purpose. The reader will appreciate the personal stories and testimonies that confirm the mysterious workings of God.

I would especially recommend this book for those young in faith who are looking for a mentor to show them how to go deeper into the things of God. Or for those who feel their faith-walk needs refreshing after a season of staleness.

In “If You Knew My Family, You’d Understand” discover the truth about toxic relationships and the danger of remaining subject to them long-term. Author Phoebe Chester breaks down the characteristics of what toxic behaviour looks like and the emotional, mental, and physical toll it takes on a victim.

You’ll appreciate the real-life stories of victims who have shared their perspectives about their toxic family relationships. Chester also provides reflection questions along the way so you can personalize your learning and explore how you are being impacted by a narcissist or other toxic person.

Chester guides the reader to consider the question, “how toxic is too toxic?” and frames a break in contact with a toxic person so that you can see it in a healthy, self-respecting way. She also provides 6 steps to try before leaving so you’ll know when a relationship is truly over. From there, Chester addresses the aftermath of breaking ties including forgiving yourself, maintaining a healthy headspace and keeping a focus on yourself as you learn and grow in respecting your heart and feeling your feelings.

I loved the voice of the narrator and the topic resonated personally as I have experienced cutting out toxic relationships from my life. I agree wholeheartedly with what has been written. I especially recommend this book for those recovering from narcissistic relationships with parents, siblings or other close family members.

In “Self-Care Habits for Busy Women”, Tula Rhodes gives you a thorough and expansive look at the need for and impact of taking care of your internal and external states of being. She readily unpacks the complex relationship between energy exhaustion, negative thought patterns and the impacts on physical health. Hunkering down, Rhodes takes time to explain comprehensively the importance of boundaries—for self and others—and the priority of consequences for boundary breakers to maintain a sense of well-being.

Listeners will appreciate how practical Rhodes' approach is as she demonstrates what self-care can look like in daily living, including mindfulness and journaling exercises.

This really is the ultimate guide for self-care--there are SO many ideas to consider. I highly recommend this book for women who recognize their need for a more intentional balance of work and life, those on the brink of burnout, or those negatively impacted by a family upheaval such as a divorce or death.
