An impressive biography of a young actress
Revisado: 04-06-19
This is a thorough recounting of Anna Kendrick’s life and career. This audiobook covers her early life, her career in theater, film, and television, and her personal views. It also includes her filmography, discography, and a list of her many award nominations and wins.
There is a brief section regarding her personal life and relationships, but it is kept to a minimum.
The tone of the narrative becomes fawning at times, similar to a Hollywood special you might see on television, but that is to be expected. The narrator maintains an energetic delivery throughout the half hour run time.
This audiobook is definitely recommended if you are a fan of Anna Kendrick and you want to know more about her.

Historia
In 1914, the war which was to have been wrapped up by Christmas had - in reality - only just begun, as all sides entrenched themselves deeper into the Great War. Christmas Eve, 1914 follows one company of British officers as they rotate forward to spend their Christmas on the front lines, a mere 80 yards from the German guns. Upper- and working-class men and boys are thrown together into one trench and struggle to survive.

An entertaining and well acted short story based on historical events
Revisado: 12-20-18
This is a portrayal of the days leading up to the famous “Christmas armistice” of World War I. Although there is a third-person narrator, the story is told primarily by actors in the voices of actual soldiers who were stationed on the front line. All the actors provide strong performances as mostly young men and boys in the middle of a violent stalemate.
I found this audiobook to be very enjoyable without demanding a large time commitment. It manages to tell its effective story in just over an hour. I hope Audible continues to produce more of these short-form historical dramas.

Historia
On Christmas Eve, 1818, in a small Austrian village, a local Catholic priest and a church organist composed a Christmas carol that changed the course of holiday music forever. Exactly two hundred years later, it’s not the holiday season until you’ve heard “Silent Night” in the car, at the store and on TV – all in the same day.
In Jingle Bell Pop, John Seabrook, acclaimed author of The Song Machine, takes us deep inside the holiday music business. We go behind the scenes to meet some of the producers, songwriters and recording artists responsible for the timeless tunes we hear on repeat between Thanksgiving and Christmas every year.

A great history and analysis of Christmas music
Revisado: 12-15-18
This is a well researched and surprisingly insightful history of Christmas music. It includes information on the centuries-old Christian hymns, the melancholy wartime period that produced “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and similar songs, and the era of the 1950s and 1960s up through the present day.
At just over one hour, this program does not require a massive time commitment. There are some brief interviews with musicians and producers who were involved with making some of the Christmas classics. But most of the time the narrator is the one talking, and she does a great job with her delivery, never boring or monotonous.
Recommended if you have any interest the history of popular music, and if you are curious about why some Christmas songs become popular for decades while others are forgotten.

Historia
Jenna Fischer's Hollywood journey began at the age of 22 when she moved to Los Angeles from her hometown of St. Louis. She was determined, confident, and ready to work hard. So, what could go wrong? Uh, basically everything. The path to being a professional actor was so much more vast and competitive than she’d imagined. It would be eight long years before she landed her iconic role on The Office, nearly a decade of frustration, rejection, and doubt. If only she’d had a handbook for the aspiring actor. Or, better yet, someone to show her the way. Jenna wants to be that person for you.

Both entertaining and informative.
Revisado: 08-07-18
Jenna Fischer does a great job of mixing her own life story as an actress in Los Angeles with practical information and advice for those who might want to follow the same path. Her story would make for a good book on its own: a young woman goes from being a struggling unknown to a series regular on a network television series, and she experiences many ups and downs along the way. But she also includes a considerable amount of information about important matters in the life of an actor, such as representation, career choices, watching out for scams, and how to behave properly on a professional set.
This book will definitely be helpful for anyone who dreams of making it in Hollywood. It is both encouraging and cautionary, and she covers many of the business aspects of the industry that the average viewer does not see on the surface. Her narration is clear and has an almost conversational quality, especially when she is talking about an especially emotional moment from her past. Even if you are not interested in living the life of an actor, it is a worthwhile listen about the realities of the entertainment industry.

Historia
In this audio investigation - unavailable in book form - Lewis narrates his 2018 report from Washington originally published in Bloomberg View. From inside the White House press room - which Lewis describes as having "the cramped, uncared-for feel of a public toilet" - to a balcony overlooking "a sea of white people" in the Trump International Hotel, to Steve Bannon's Capitol Hill townhouse, where he joins the former campaign CEO to watch the State of the Union address, Lewis takes listeners on an unforgettable behind-the-scenes tour.

An entertaining, bite-size story about Trump’s second State of the Union address. The insight into Steve Brannon’s mindset after leaving the White House was a highlight.

Author of the National Book Award-winning All the Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy is one of the most provocative American stylists to emerge in the last century. The striking novel Blood Meridian offers an unflinching narrative of the brutality that accompanied the push west on the 1850s Texas frontier.

Epic Story Well Read
Revisado: 05-16-18
This is a true epic American Western, featuring almost Biblical narration along with brutal violence in a bleak, amoral landscape. The narrator gives an exceptional performance both in the general description and in portraying many different characters with distinct voices. A great novel and a great audio production.
