Having hiked the John Muir Trail myself, I found myself reliving my experiences, and my own contemplation about life, taking in the moment. His story is poignant and relatable. There is a lot of interesting history, philosophy, personal growth in his story. Enjoyable read, even more so if you have trekked or backpacked.

Enjoyed listening to an important part of history and the life of an historical figure of significance. Having been to Prague, Vienna and Budapest, I experienced first hand the lasting impact of the Hapsburg's and of Sisi's reign on the history of the region. This novel brought it all to life and I look forward to continuing with the next book, "Sisi"!
