If you have read "Through the Brazilian Wilderness" this is a total snooze. I appreciate the author researching other participants accounts of this journey, but this book has all the excitement of a textbook. TR took you along on his adventure!

Historia
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

David Goggins is exceptional. It broke my heart that he experienced racism and was abused.
But he rose like a Phoenix. He turned suffering into a gift!❤❤

Love It
Revisado: 11-10-19
Don Jr. and I agree on everything!! Starts out a little slow, but when he gets to the subject matter, he knows it out of the park. With FACTS and FIGURES.
Hard to dispute. I see the Left is trashing him in the reviews. Doubt they read it...because if they did, they may become Trump supporters!!

Historia
In 2017, a routine network television investigation led to a story only whispered about: one of Hollywood’s most powerful producers was a predator, protected by fear, wealth, and a conspiracy of silence. As Farrow drew closer to the truth, shadowy operatives, from high-priced lawyers to elite war-hardened spies, mounted a secret campaign of intimidation, threatening his career, following his every move, and weaponizing an account of abuse in his own family.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Hard to Believe this was a Best Seller
Revisado: 07-12-19
I see potential in the author. She made me want to buy a skiff and head for North Carolina. The detailed knowledge of birds and insects contrasted sharply with the author's lack of of research on feral children and courtroom procedure. Living in the South and a frequent visitor of New Orleans, I have never heard a mother referred to as "Ma". Mamma is used until adulthood.
Kya's amazing luck at never encountering many of her neighbors, such as bears. bobcats, and poisonous snakes.(There are 37 varieties in that area) seemed a bit absurd.
The narrator's grating "accent" added NOTHING to this rendition. I have spent an enormous amount of time in NC and NEVER heard anyone speak so weird. I think she has received so many awards, that she can phone it in. Hard to believe this book holds the same esteem as A Man in Full. The remarkable novel by Tom Wolfe. A book that taught Southerners a out the South!!

Historia
In 1977, Terri Jentz and her Yale roommate, Shayna Weiss, make a cross-country bike trip. They pitch a tent in the desert of central Oregon. As they are sleeping, a man in a pickup truck deliberately runs over the tent. He then attacks them with an ax. No one is ever arrested. Both women survive, but Shayna suffers from amnesia, while Terri is left alone with memories of the attack. Their friendship is shattered. Fifteen years later, Terri returns to the small town where she was nearly murdered, on the first of many visits she will make "to solve the crime that would solve me".

An interesting Book
Revisado: 05-03-19
I lived in Oregon at the time of this story. I remember the hot summer, the events taking place. Meanwhile these young women fought for their lives a few hundred miles away. Kay Turner, who is referenced, was my high school English Teacher. My daughter was abducted and raped at 18.
So I could relate to the frustration of overworked, apathetic law enforcement.
The performance was poor. The strange accents the reader used were like nothing I have heard. In Oregon or elsewhere. The mutilation of Willamette was to be expected. All in all a terrific story that needed telling. The author reclaimed her life against an incredible psychopath.

On March 16, 2018, just 26 hours before his scheduled retirement from the organization he had served with distinction for more than two decades, Andrew G. President Donald Trump celebrated on Twitter: "Andrew McCabe FIRED, a great day for the hard working men and women of the FBI - A great day for Democracy." In The Threat: How the FBI Protects America in the Age of Terror and Trump, Andrew G. McCabe offers a dramatic and candid account of his career and an impassioned defense of the FBI.

Great glimpse into the day to day at FBI
Revisado: 03-27-19
Andrew McCabe is exactly what an FBI executive should be. He is measured, intelligent and loves his country. Donald Trump's bombastic, bratty ways does not square with a man who lived his career by protocol. I am a Trump supporter, but can see how McCabe considers Trump a threat. I just disagree with his assessment. Trump loves our country too. He just does not follow the rules.

Left me feeling sad
Revisado: 11-05-18
Steve Martin is an exceptional communicator, and this story is beautifully written, with insight into his path to fame and fortune.
I worked in Santa Barbara when he spent a lot of time there, and there were always sighting stories about him and his soft spoken ways.
I guess what I missed in this book was his why, it seems as if he would have been happier if he had remained a TV writer. I'm glad he didn't because I've enjoyed him immensely.
