Heartfelt, real, engaging and unique

I really loved this book - in part because so much took place where I went to college so it was very relatable, but also because it was so honest and heartfelt. It was unique and unexpected which made it fresh, while also feeling familiar in its down to earth honesty. This is a book that will stay with me a long time. I’m grateful to the author for sharing his story and for his beautiful writing.

What a phenomenal novel about such an important time and topic. Growing up in the late 60’s and 70’s, I often think about how I was too young to really understand the Vietnam War and it didn’t make it into our history books while at school. I remember the announcement at a grammar school all school assembly that the war was over but remember very little else. This novel touched on so many important topics of this time period and I am grateful to the author for sharing these through such a real main character - Frankie felt very genuine. To those who may think this is just some popular summer beach read, I encourage you to pick this up and feel the weight of history in this novel. My favorite read of 2024.

Wonderful look behind the curtain & great story/characters

I’m not really a romance book person but I love audible books so this looked really interesting and I’m so glad I read/listened to it on audible. The love story part was somewhat predictable but surrounded by great characters and other storylines that have it so much depth - it was a treat. I particularly liked listening to the author’s afterword with the background and genesis of the story. Highly recommend this unique book!
