Impactful, heartwarming, & uplifting story
Revisado: 12-29-22
Wonderful story! I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys presidential history, love stories, or has ever wondered about the big issues such as life, death, & life’s purpose. I’m so glad I listened to this; the addition of audio clips is very effective. I only selected 4-stars for performance because there were a (very) few words I couldn’t make out due to author’s subtle accent. Overall, highly recommend to all.

Mr. Brooks’ voice is so easy to listen to, it really enhances the whole experience. As a person in my mid-50s, I really appreciated the well-researched, practical, and entertaining information in this book. Highly recommend to all.

Loved this story! Well written & fast paced
Revisado: 11-14-21
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was well written, fast paced, and full of intriguing details. Andrew Klavan paints a picture with his words, and the narrator did a wonderful job bringing the voices of many characters to life. I highly recommend this story to all!

Historia
People unfamiliar with Scripture often assume that women play a small, secondary role in the Bible. But in fact, they were central figures in numerous Biblical tales. It was Queen Esther’s bravery at a vital point in history which saved her entire people. The Bible contains warriors like Jael, judges like Deborah, and prophets like Miriam. The first person to witness Jesus’ resurrection was Mary Magdalene, who promptly became the first Christian evangelist, eager to share the news which would change the world forever.

I liked this book so much! Shannon Bream has a wonderful voice, I never got tired of listening to her. She told these familiar stories in a relevant and engaging way. I highly recommend this book to anyone even vaguely interested in this topic, of any age!

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Revisado: 11-29-20
No matter where you come from, this is a fascinating, powerful, & thought provoking story. It’s an effective companion to the Netflix movie; if you’ve already watched it, then I highly recommend that you listen to this book. Also, I prefer books read by the author, and JD Vance has quite a nice voice to listen to for 6 plus hours.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Do yourself a favor & listen!
Revisado: 11-28-20
What a fantastic book! The content is wonderful: funny, wise, and insightful (also pg-13 at times, just FYI!) Add the dulcet tones & intonations of Matthew McConaughey’s own voice, and now we’ve got a winner on every level! This book is a perfect example of how sometimes listening to a book can be way better than just reading it.

Long & oddly interesting story
Revisado: 06-03-20
Overall I ended up liking this book, even though at times the story was slightly preposterous. Even so, it was very interesting; I love historical fiction stories! Also, this was the first audible book I’ve listened to with multiple voices; I didn’t love it.

Fast paced, bold story
Revisado: 04-05-20
This is a terrific story, very fast paced and exciting. But it also makes you think deep thoughts, which I really like. I’m a fan of Klavan’s podcasts, so I already enjoy the sound of his voice. This was the first of his novels that I’ve read/listened to, but based on how much I liked it, it for sure won’t be the last.

Historia
In the winter of 1918, at the height of World War I, history's most lethal influenza virus erupted in an army camp in Kansas, moved east with American troops, then exploded, killing as many as 100 million people worldwide. It killed more people in 24 weeks than AIDS has killed in 24 years, more in a year than the Black Death killed in a century. But this was not the Middle Ages, and 1918 marked the first collision between modern science and epidemic disease.

Required reading during global pandemic
Revisado: 03-29-20
Turn off the tv and read / listen to this book instead! I feel very informed after finishing it. There’s a lot of medicine & scientific information in here, but it was still fascinating & very understandable by a non-medical person like me. I highly recommend this book to everyone, especially now that we’re living through a global pandemic.

How did a New York-born, Jewish, former-atheist novelist and screenwriter - a winner of multiple Edgar Awards, whose books became films with Clint Eastwood and Michael Douglas - find himself at the age of 50 being baptized and confessing Jesus as Lord? That's a tale worth telling.

Wonderful story, wonderfully told
Revisado: 02-10-20
This is my first Audible book. I picked a winner! To be honest, I was already a fan of the author’s daily podcast. But what a blessing to hear his wonderful, inspirational story in his own unique voice. I’ll never forget it! But even if you’re not familiar with Andrew Klavan, I highly recommend this book. Its interesting, uplifting, very well told, and sounds amazing. All in all, a pleasure!
