Historia
Cassie Palmer is the Pythia, chief seer of the supernatural world. John Pritkin is a half demon and a legendary war mage. Mircea Basarab is a first-level master vampire and the general of the World Vampire Senate. Each is formidable enough alone. But they recently discovered that, together, they are far more than the sum of their parts. With their power combined through a perilous spell, they are the closest thing left on Earth to one of the ancient gods. That comes in handy, considering that the old gods are exactly what the supernatural community is currently fighting.

sounds like and AI narrator
Revisado: 09-21-24
I'm pretty good at focusing on the story and not so much on the narrator but after being almost 20 books into this series of Cassandra Palmer's world this is a horrible narrator. Usually when I start an audiobook with a bad narrator I speed it up but my usual tricks aren't working here. I actually googled it this is a human or an AI and it looks like it's human but she sounds like an AI.

It’s not easy serving Chernobog, the God of Destruction, Darkness and Death…especially during the holidays; and especially when you’re out of eggnog and one of your pesky, freeloading mythic creatures has eaten your last cookie. Roman would like nothing more than to be left alone, but when a wounded boy stumbles into his yard and begs for sanctuary, Roman takes him in. Now elite mercenaries are camped out on his property, combat mages are dousing the house with fire, and strange priests are unleashing arcane magic.

But that is true for all good books. I'm looking forward to the author(s) building on this character and I'm curious where it fits in with the larger worlds timeline.

love these authors
Revisado: 06-02-24
As usual this book is a great read. The only drawback I found was that we are something like 15 books into the world of this series and this narrator could not name the people in the series as the prior narrators did... I felt like I was having to translate the names back to the old school series. Which drew me out of the experience.

I found this really interesting. I have never been one who really understood the Old Testament as anything more than an angry God who kept knocking humanity into place. This book gave me a new appreciation for it not to mention he reads it as being a lot less hating of women than any Sunday school I ever went to

Historia
For the past few hundred years, most of what we’ve been taught about the native cultures of North America came from reports authored by the conquerors and colonizers who destroyed them. Now - with the technological advances of modern archaeology and a new perspective on world history - we are finally able to piece together their compelling true stories. In Ancient Civilizations of North America, Professor Edwin Barnhart, Director of the Maya Exploration Center, will open your eyes to a fascinating world you never knew existed - even though you’ve been living right next to it, or even on top of it.

I found this very interesting
Revisado: 04-14-22
I enjoyed listening to this book to the point that I had to actually turn it off when I was trying to get to sleep as I was in the "just one more chapter" mode. I figured a lecture series like this would easily put me to sleep but I was wring. There are a couple of incidents of really poor quality voice overs, I'm guessing for corrections. Such as chapter 13 when he says Narvaez. He says it repeatedly in exactly the same tone over and over really close together so that there is no way to avoid that it is a voice over. Otherwise it is a good lecture series that gives you a better respect for Native cultures across the N. American continent.

night shift worker here
Revisado: 04-23-21
So as stated above I work nights and sleep during the day. Which means there are days I'm unable to shut my brain off for all the daytime noise and the bright sunny ball in the sky. This has at least helped with the 1st issue. I start off by following the instructions and b4 I know it I'm asleep. Every once in awhile I might go for a second round but usually it's not necessary. The only reason I deducted 1 star is for 2 reasons 1 I HATE 5 star ratings as they feel like they are fake and 2 I had to speed up the book to about 1.3 not really sure who can breath in and out for as long as it has here but it isn't this girl!

wanted to like but blah
Revisado: 08-31-20
I love Donna Grants books so was really surprised when I finished this one that it felt SO INCOMPLETE. What I generally like about her books is the emotional aspect whether you are laughing or crying or just being on the edge of your seat during a battle scene. ALL of which are missing from this book. It just felt so blah. I liked Kyra's drive to do the right thing and to say what needs to be said. Other than her though I felt no connection to any of the other characters and really felt that the story line was just left hanging. I do have to admit though that I've kinda felt the same for many of this Reaper series - they feel like a sideline story, not a storyline in itself.

great book
Revisado: 02-07-18
I've seen a lot of reviews here that they were bothered by the transition of adding the male voice but I have to say it didn't bug me. The book moved along just as fast as usual. It is still character driven and has a lot of energy. I mean you know Mercy is going to survive. You may not know how but you know she will. I held off on purchasing this book because of all the complaints about the switch in voices but decided to go ahead and take the plunge. I'm glad I did.

Still good
Revisado: 08-12-15
After reading some of the reviews on this book I was tempted not to buy it. I'm glad I did. Yes, parts of it does seem slow and it's not really as action packed as some of her previous books. It is still important to the series and does move the series forward.
