Historia
Cassie Smith has been out of work for a while but she has an idea. Drawing on her love of Christmas, she begins charging for small things: wrapping presents; writing cards; tree-decorating. She's soon in huge demand and Cassie's business, Calling Mrs Christmas, is born. Carter Randall wants to make Christmas special for his children, so he enlists Cassie's help, and his lavish requests start taking up all her time. Thank goodness she can rely on her loving partner Jim to handle the rest of her clients.

Wholesome
Revisado: 12-24-20
After having “read” several other books by Carole Matthews I looked for something light to listen to while wrapping presents. This book was a very good choice. I love Ma Matthews character development, and speaking as an American, insight into contemporary English life.

Good Story with Timeless Relevance
Revisado: 05-10-20
I have read many books by Janette Oke, and this one is very similar in that she has excellent character development, in which their is tension, sorrow or difficulties, and interesting and great things happening in unexpected ways.
Having been brought up as an orphan, living in various foster homes and children's homes, I could relate to how powerful a caring person can be in the lives of children who have so little.
I love historical fiction. How it can open ones eyes to the past and how things could have been. But, in this case there is much in our current world that the book can also open up our eyes to.
I am being careful not to give away the story, since you can read enough about it from the publishers and other reviews (mostly on Amazon [though the number is still small]). I think, if one looked for a "take home" message from the story, it would be to make a difference where you are. Though in the scope of any one life the amount of time given to any one cause might not be huge, and might not seem significant to an individual, it could be VERY Huge to those whom it impacts.
Loved the book for entertainment value, but also it rang true regarding displaced children in any time, and prejudices that can further damage them--yet, how life saving change can come in surprising ways.

No Book Headings
Revisado: 01-12-18
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The quality of the recording is good, but the Bible is not divided up into books and chapters, just numbers. You have to hunt for the books, then the chapters. Very inconvenient and such a shame.
What did you like best about this story?
Quality of the audio is very good.
