Disappointing
Revisado: 04-17-25
Maybe I just had high hopes or wanted a great villain story. I realized early on the author just gets lost in thick detail twisting and turning the plot around so much it requires your attention to keep up. Unfortunately the details were not much more than a ridiculous hot mess that left me rolling my eyes and wondering how I would finish the title. I told my self it would get better and continued. I wish I would have gone with my gut. The great story never came the ridiculous hot mess continued and I nearly made it to the end. After the big finally scene, I conceded defeat of getting a great story and came here to give a very honest review. Don't buy this title thinking you'll get a clever villain story lead by a cat. You'll just get a headache.
The performance was pretty good. I had troubles with some of the character changes but I'm not sure it is any fault of Wil Wheaton. With the hot mess shake and bake story line I can see anyone getting whiplash.

Space babes who kick five times the tremendous behind. It's in here. Action that would make Michael Bay splooge himself. It's in here. A main character who spouts more one-liners than Ryan Reynolds on PCP. It's in here. There is so much tremendous stuff in here that I decided to let Marc Havak take center stage.

Dribble
Revisado: 07-29-21
I've really enjoyed the Arena series till now. The story was really good with well crafted characters and storyline. However, this book did not introduce any new characters and did not progress the storyline at all. It was just another day at the office for Mark Havoc.and boring. It was still better than Scholomance because I'd rather listen to... well anything over Scholomance.
I am a little sad. I would have liked to get to the end of the story but I think this will be the end of the Arena series for me. I just don't think I can take another filler book like this again. There are just too many other Authors who are actually putting in effort into their work. From the previous Arena books I know Mr. Jacobs has the ability to craft a great story but Arena 5 and Scholomance just don't reflect any talent or any real effort. And besides, it seems he is leaving Audible anyway and starting his own audiobook club on his website. Ya... good luck with that one!

My fellow Americans, we are here for one reason: the fact that I picked Marc Havak to represent us in the crucible of carnage. Now, before we talk about how fantastic I am at making world leader decisions, let’s talk about how great this sequel is. I've read many sequels, and all were bad. Very very bad. But this one? It's the best. And not just because I'm in it. No. Well, yes. I’m in it, and I always do a fantastic job with everything.

I love this series!
Revisado: 01-28-21
Book two just as good as the first! It is hard to believe this is the same guy who wrote Scholomance, it was total barf in a bag. So far Arean 1 & 2 have been action packed and funny! I am loving all the characters including the president and the portrayal done by the narrator! I have enjoyed 1 & 2 so much I've purchased the remaining books available in this series on Audible but unfortunately many books seem to be missing. Please do me a favor and dump the Scholomance and bring in the remaining Arena!

Condescending lesbian meets stupid puppy dog farmboy. This is surely the most unerotic story I've ever heard. I usually try to say something positive about the story but this was so bad and inspired strong waves of violence in me toward the main character.

Cole is the most powerful witch to ever be born. Except, he’s a man, and there has never been a male witch. Now, Cole is stuck in the Devil’s Academy full of evil women who want to destroy him. To survive, he’ll have to perform a dark ritual that enslaves the beautiful witches to him. They’ll hate serving a man, of course, but that just makes the conquest over their bodies, minds, and souls that much sweeter.

Juvenile and Boring
Revisado: 08-25-20
I wish I could say something good about the book before ripping it apart but nothing comes to mind. The hero is a douchebag with no endearing personality traits and will have you cheering on his adversaries and wishing he will die soon and painfully.
If you are considering this book, I'd suggest you give it a hard pass. It is not worth your time! There are so many others like it that you will enjoy much more! This book is the first I've listened to by Logan Jacobs and I did buy another from another series, so I guess Logan will have another chance to win me over but if I had not done so I'd avoid anything by this author. It has zero creativity and makes me wonder how crap like this ever gets published in the first place.
The 4.6 rating it had at the time of my review is very misleading! I'd bet people were paid to leave good reviews because there is no way anyone could enjoy this.

Historia
When a spaceship landed in an open field in the quiet mill town of Sorrow Falls, Massachusetts, everyone realized humankind was not alone in the universe. With that realization everyone freaked out for a little while. Or almost everyone. The residents of Sorrow Falls took the news pretty well. This could have been due to a certain local quality of unflappability, or it could have been that in three years the ship did exactly nothing other than sit quietly in that field, and nobody understood the full extent of this nothing the ship was doing better than the people who lived right next door.

Mega Crap
Revisado: 11-07-19
The author is so random he can not keep up with his own storyline. In the first few chapters, we are told the main character has outlive his expected lifespan and still appears to be young but later we learn he is infected with something that is slowly killing him. I'm a good ways threw the book and I still feel like the back story is being developed like the author has thought up something new. Same for the places and planets. We get invested in glorious descriptions of exotic places but nothing happens and we are off to someplace new. Well I'm F'ing sick of it. This book is a big pile of random S. I am not even going to bother finishing it.

parody humor with a superhero twist
Revisado: 08-07-19
Parody humor with a superhero twist but mostly lame. The hero or in this case the villain turns out to actually be a hero who is in denial. By half way I was hoping someone would kill him but when I reached the end and he was still alive I wasn't nearly as disappoint as I usually am when a book leaves me hanging. I will never learn the what happens to our "hero" but who cares.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

The story started slow and dry but really picked up and finished strong! I would continue to the next in the series. It was funny to listen to the narrator saying his from the Midwest when he has an accent that is clearly from the Northeast!
