I am normally a fan of Pepper's books. This one, not so much. I loved Brad. He was so sweet and caring. I hated Thorston - he always jumped to conclusions and didn't deserve Brad. I was disturbed by the spanking scene after Brad had been working a 24-hour shift. Thorston simply reacted - harshly - without stopping to think first. Sure, Thorston felt remorse afterward, but the damage had already been done. I was disturbed by the visit to Dr. Richards, when the doors to the exam rooms were left open, putting the Littles on display to anyone else in the office - Littles deserve privacy, too.

I loved this book! Fake wedding date, friends to lovers, and first time all rolled into a sweet romance. Ben and Evan were adorable. Evan's Instagram friends and their sometimes hilarious advice were a hoot. And Aunt Rosy was an absolutely wonderful character! There's even a treasure hunt to liven things up.

Ana Byrde weaves a beautiful, sometimes funny, story that tugs at the heartstrings. John Solo's narration, as always, is perfect.

I love Ann-Katrin's books. This series has little angst and lots of sweet romance. Add John Solo's narration, and you have a winning combination. Highly recommend!

Kross McCabe has been training to become a master for the Praemani for over a hundred years. He was always certain the path he chose was sound - dedicate his life to combat and to the immortal history of those who came before. That is, until he meets Larrin Brenner and has to choose between the path he has chosen and his fated mate. But someone is angered by that decision, and what ensues is a battle waged against an unknown enemy who is using magic to kill Larrin and bring Kross to his knees.

This new series by J.D. Light is everything I have come to expect from her. Sometimes I was on the edge of my seat and other times I was laughing uncontrollably. There was the perfect balance of suspense and hilarity.

Narrator Kenneth Obi, a god among narrators in my humble opinion, brought the characters and their antics to life. I actually felt their joy, their fear, and their despair. Perfect!

Stalking Shaw

Take two fated mates, Young (Larrin's best friend) and Shaw (Larrin's father), add in Larrin and his hilarious group of friends, and a fae with a lust for vampire blood, and watch the hilarity begin. Young constantly pervs on Shaw in front of Larrin, just to watch Larrin gag. A forest of trees sprout in the middle of a large meeting room. A witch glows red. I laughed until I cried.

Book 2 in J.D. Light;s Terra Mortis series does not disappoint. Kenneth Obi's narration was perfect. I found myself totally involved with the characters and their lives. His voice never fails to bring the characters to life.

Alpha Dana McMains is a young widower trying to raise his son and run his business. He feels the pain of losing his husband every day and is struggling to move on with his life. Omega Dex Rowley is a 40-something Omega who owns a vegan coffee shop. He has everything he ever wanted, but an Alpha and a family to call his own. Both men agree to help test the Almega dating app. One disastrous, blind date with Dana, and Dex is convinced he is destined to be alone. Thankfully, Dana disagrees.

This is the second book in the series and my favorite so far. Both characters’ pasts are filled with pain and suffering, and Jack Calihan voices that pain perfectly. My heart ached for each of them, and I rejoiced when they finally worked through their painful pasts to realize they were exactly what each other needed.

Ramiro Danner (Ram) is a hot Alpha who owns a construction business with his best friend. Having been used too many times to count, he has given up on finding his perfect Omega. Erik Bailey is a young Omega, interested in hooking up with an older man to experience new sexual delights, is not interested in a committed relationship. Both agree to help test out the new Almega dating app, sparks fly, and the rest is history.

The Bates brothers have created a wonderful story. I love the premise of the dating app to bring Alphas and Omegas together for a meaningful relationship, not just a hook-up.

Randi Johnson did a superb job, as always, of narrating this book. I literally felt the pain Ram experienced at being constantly used by Omegas only interested in his money, and his hesitance at putting himself out there again. I could hear Erik’s laid back, flippant personality in the voice Randi gave to him, but could also feel Erik’s yearning for something deeper.

I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next in the series.

Bad boy meets geek

Gil Davis, high school geek, is talked into attending his 10th high school reunion by his best friend, Katie. Rip Cord, “Bad Boy of the NFL,” also attends. Gil has nursed a crush for Rip since they were in high school, and we quickly discover that Rip feels the same way toward Gil.

A steamy hook-up in the hallway and locker room of the school ensues during the reunion, but Rip is so far “in the closet” that he may never come out. In the ensuing months, the two MCs briefly come together again, but Rip always leaves, leaving Gil bereft. Finally, Rip shows up drunk on Gil’s doorstep. Katie (I loved Katie) reads Rip the riot act, so to speak, about the way he has been treating Gil. So as not to give the entire story line away, I will simply say that Rip and Gil finally get their HEA.

This was my introduction into Jeanne St. James’ writing. The story line flowed smoothly, and I truly enjoyed the book, which surprised me since I did not like Rip Cord at all. I hated the way Rip kept showing up, expecting Gil to be there whenever he chose to give Gil his time and attention. I loved sweet, vulnerable Gil, but kept wishing Gil would get on with his life and not sit around pining after Rip, who truly did not deserve Gil.

John Solo, one of my favorite narrators, did a superb job at narrating this book. Rip’s macho personality came through perfectly (which is probably why I grew to dislike Rip intensely), and Gil’s sweet vulnerability made my heart hurt. When a narrator can make a reader feel such strong emotions, you know he did an amazing job.

Adam Kingston is an entitled, arrogant rich kid. Adam knows that the multi-international conglomerate owned by his father is in severe financial straits, and when his father dies suddenly, Adam expects to inherit the company. Imagine his surprise when half of the company is left to Nate Thomas, an annoying “tree-hugger” who was one of his father’s trusted employees.

To the outside world, it appears Adam and Nate hate each other, but appearances can be deceiving. When Adam sees pink panties that have accidentally fallen out of Nate’s duffel bag, and when Nate discovers Adam is bisexual, they each use the other’s fear of discovery to try to further their respective agendas, which are vastly different. Calling a truce to come up with a plan to save the company, the waters quickly become muddied, desire and lust reign supreme, and Adam and Nate find the love they never knew they needed.

This was my introduction into Silvia Violet’s writing. The story line was interesting, and I was captivated by the interactions between Adam and Nate. The undercurrent of desire was intoxicating, and the intimate scenes were steamy and provocative. Nick Russo’s narration was fabulous! Adam’s spoiled, little rich kid persona and Nate’s confidence in who he was and in what he believed, came shining through.

This will be a book I revisit often.
