Historia
For the past thousand years, the dragon Vakandi has watched the people of Vakfored grow from a wandering band of refugees to a glorious city of art and magic. Under his protection, the city has survived monsters, floods, and wars all without building an army, dam, or even a wall. But time changes everything and now the citizens of his beloved city want him dead.

A unique tale about the struggles of a dragon who chose to be a protector instead of a beast.

Nice compact story

I enjoyed the story. It wasn’t really long though and could be easily completed in a day or even a sitting if you were listening at a higher speed. I would listen to the author and narrator again.

Historia
Vainqueur Knightsbane is your average dragon: A giant, fire-breathing lizard who loves to take naps on his golden hoard, kidnap princesses for fun, and make the life of adventurers miserable. Vainqueur's only pleasure in life is to watch his treasure get bigger, one coin at a time. So when a would-be thief turned unwilling minion tells him about "classes", "levels", and "quests", Vainqueur wonders if maybe, just maybe, he should consider a career change. After all, why bother hunting monsters for free when you can get paid for it?

Enjoyable

I loved Durand’s Perfect Run series. This series is very different but still the same humor. I don’t enjoy it as much so far but still really good and look forward to continuing the series. Narration is very well done also.

Sam Flint lives in a world of monsters and magic, and as a quasi-immortal, he is King. Well, King of a hole in the wall apartment infested with more rats than the politicians shiny offices up in Standard Heights. The life of a private eye in Necrotown isn't glamorous, but Sam has all he as ever wanted wrapped up in the sexy embrace of his kitsune wife, Fox. Unfortunately, landlords and rent wait for no man and Sam needs to get paid fast. When big bellied and bigger pocketed Lloyd Burgess hires Sam for a quick snatch and grab of his wayward daughter, Sam is all in.

Gritty Fantasy
Revisado: 04-12-24
I got this book from a promotion and had no idea what it was going to be like. I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The story drops you into a world different than ours but it isn’t an origin type story. You learn about characters midway through their lives as opposed to being introduced when they discover powers or something like that. I appreciate that type of storytelling but others may feel differently. It probably rates less than a 5 but more than a 4. Since it is the first book I will lean towards 5. The story isn’t really long but it is a complete story. I don’t know if there are plans to make more books in this world but if so I would continue to read them.

Historia
The apocalypse will be televised! You know what’s worse than breaking up with your girlfriend? Being stuck with her prize-winning show cat. And you know what’s worse than that? An alien invasion, the destruction of all man-made structures on Earth, and the systematic exploitation of all the survivors for a sadistic intergalactic game show. That’s what. Join Coast Guard vet Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, as they try to survive the end of the world—or just get to the next level—in a video game–like, trap-filled fantasy dungeon.

Great story and narration. It became one of my favorites if not my favorite book. It has humor and action. If you are on the fence you will likely love it.

Historia
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

I only purchased this book because it was on sale and seemed like it could be a fun read. This book is very enjoyable. After finishing I read the next two books and enjoyed both also.
