Not extremely impressed
Revisado: 03-29-13
Would you try another book from Arthur Conan Doyle and/or B.J. Harrison?
The reader was great. Conan Doyle is someone I'd never read again, were he not well-known. I somewhat enjoyed the book, but it seemed more an exercise in showing off than anything particularly exciting or compelling.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I could have done without the extremely direct, verbose explanation of everything. The book would have been far better had he woven it into his story better.
What does B.J. Harrison bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Suspense.
Was The Hound of the Baskervilles worth the listening time?
Yes, as I now have at least some impression of Sherlock Holmes, a significant part of our culture.

Well done audiobook
Revisado: 03-12-13
What made the experience of listening to Night the most enjoyable?
It wasn't enjoyable, but it was quite moving.
What other book might you compare Night to and why?
The Black Season by Michal Glowinski, This Way for the Gas Ladies and Gentleman by Tadeusz Borowski, Fatelessness by Imre Kertesz. They are all about the Holocaust.
What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Not a whole lot, but it was still great.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The part where they discussed the bread being thrown into the train car was brutal, just brutal.

Nice reading of a nice book
Revisado: 03-12-13
What did you love best about The Perks of Being a Wallflower?
It's a very real and very believable book.
What other book might you compare The Perks of Being a Wallflower to and why?
It covers the years of my childhood and is very authentic. No other books have been quite able to do that. There may be many books able to accomplish this for other generations, but I am of course unable to judge that.
What about Noah Galvin’s performance did you like?
He sounded the correct age.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
It is a film already.
Any additional comments?
No.

Way better than I expected
Revisado: 03-12-13
Would you consider the audio edition of I Am Legend to be better than the print version?
I haven't read it in print.
What other book might you compare I Am Legend to and why?
It is perhaps most similar in feel to something like Zone One by Colson Whitehead. It goes so far beyond the simplicities of the zombie/vampire genre and turns into pure farce.
What about Robertson Dean’s performance did you like?
He brought out the frantic nature of the narrator.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I definitely loved it.
Any additional comments?
I started it while walking around my neighborhood. I could not wait for the light outside to fade, so I could listen to the guy lose it while I scared myself as well.

Hard to listen to, perhaps not the greatest story
Revisado: 03-12-13
What did you like best about The Legend of Sleepy Hollow? What did you like least?
I loved the description of detail. Washington Irving wrote a wonderful series of character portraits. I however, did not like the story all that much. I feel like it is hard to judge given all we already know about the story, but honestly, it was 7/8 a discussion of a young school teacher's romantic prospects and then a quick scare at the end. Of course I recognize the open-endedness of the finale. (Perhaps it was the other suitor attempting to scare him away, etc.) However, everyone who hasn't already read this will spend most of this listen wondering when the horseman will show.
If you’ve listened to books by Washington Irving before, how does this one compare?
I haven't
Would you listen to another book narrated by Curtis Sisco?
Sure. This was hard to listen to, but it had more to do with Washington Irving's page after page of description rather than plot than with Sisco.
Do you think The Legend of Sleepy Hollow needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I don't understand this question.
Any additional comments?
This is probably a work better read than listened to.

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Novel has its issues, wonderful reading
Revisado: 03-12-13
What made the experience of listening to Dracula [Audible Edition] the most enjoyable?
The reading was incredible.
What other book might you compare Dracula [Audible Edition] to and why?
It's similar to epistolary novels, though it does not qualify as one itself. However, the newspaper articles, recordings, journals and letters all read almost exactly the same.
Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Dracula.
