Light and funny.
Revisado: 04-05-25
Captivating characters. Interesting to crawl inside the brain of someone who thinks differently. A socially challenged scientist tries to find a mate the only way he knows but is surprised how emotions intervene. A fun look into his life and mind. First of a 3 part series.

Interwoven events and characters.
Revisado: 04-05-25
Fun as always trying to put the pieces together. I love the way she writes. The characters come alive. Reminds me of author Maeve Binchy. You get attached to the people in story and hope you’ll meet them again.

Great story. Wonderful characters
Revisado: 11-18-24
What a wonderful story. Interesting from the beginning to the very end. I love the way the characters were woven into the story so that we feel connected to each and everyone of them. A great way to learn about some of the historical events that shaped our country through the eyes of women in a boarding house who became friends despite their differences. The joy of women bonding together to support each other to form a community
Great narration. Really brought the characters to life

A beautiful but painful saga
Revisado: 10-29-24
A beautiful story filled with so much sadness and deep family love.
A word of caution- Written by a physician, it was full of medical jargon and detailed surgeries that were hard to read for my sensitive mind. Great if you can handle it all

Heartfelt simplicity
Revisado: 02-18-24
Of course, Meryl Streep was a wonderful narrator. This is a very moving story simply written, powerful in its simplicity. A young girl falls into life as an actor on stage and has to decide if that is in fact, the life she desires.
An extra bonus was learning about the inside workings of a cherry farm.

Deadwood Saga
Revisado: 02-06-24
Another interesting story by the author. She brings to life the characters and the times Very wonderful historical information. Very detailed.
The characters are also interesting it is apparent from the beginning, who will end up with whom at the end, but it is always fun to see how they get there.
I learned a lot about Deadwood, Arizona, life in a brothel and the building of a town from gold rush to the establishment of civilization .

Lies. Lies. And more lies.
Revisado: 01-12-24
How easy it is to get swept away by someone’s tale especially when your own life is a bit uninteresting. This was a great story of just that. You never knew even at the end what was truth and what lies. Josie was a very convincing liar, a spinner of tales. Alex sucked into Josie’s life until she paid a very high price for her vulnerability.
Very well written; great characters.

Historia
Each morning Livia Moretti makes her way from an apartment overlooking Florence’s famous Duomo to a nearby café, where she drinks espresso and reads the newspaper. To the crowds of tourists who pass by, nothing about Livia will be memorable. She is simply an old lady. They walk on without knowing the part she played in ensuring the future of this beautiful city. And to Livia now, those dark days feel very far away. But today, when she opens the paper, she sees a name she has not heard for a long time. A name that will bring memories flooding back.

I loved this book. Always a pleasure to relive some time in history through a novel. Isabella and Livia were two strong characters aiding Italy during WWII. One in Florence and one in Rome. A truly moving storyline based on real lives of amazing women. An inspiration to us all.

Historia
Emerson, Georgia, and Marley have been best friends ever since they met at a weight-loss camp as teens. When Emerson tragically passes away, she leaves one final wish for her best friends: to conquer the fears they still carry as adults. For Marley, it's coming to terms with the survivor's guilt she's carried around since her twin sister's death, which has left her blind to the real chance for romance in her life. For Georgia, it's learning to stop trying to live up to her mother's and brother's ridiculous standards and learning to accept love.

Fat friends
Revisado: 12-03-23
This was a very moving story about three heavy young ladies, who became very good friends at a fat farm. Their friendship lasted throughout their lives. They helped and supported each other even in death.
I really liked the characters. All three of the young women were experiencing their issues with weight very differently, but found unity in each other.
It’s a really good novel, looking at how women struggle with weight and self-esteem, and how friendship can overcome some of those issues.
