This was fascinating and fun. I'm a Mercedes fan (for the record) but I totally enjoyed Guenther's look at what a Team Principal's life is really like. I learned things. I laughed (a lot) because Guenther is a smart, hilarious character. It's a look at F1 we fans don't get to see in the general round of things and I hope Guenther does it again. I know the book is, in some respects, a reaction to not continuing Mick Schumacher's seat, but a lot of it was not.

I cannot say enough about this work. Beautifully and intelligently written it is augmented by a wonderful narrator who clearly captured the author's style and intent. The detail is fantastic.

Far too long for a Cliffhanger ending!

It's not a bad story, the prose is excellent, but it's scene after scene of essentially the same nonsense only to end in a cliffhanger when the action finally gets real. There's too much angst-driven romance and not enough plot. Thirteen hours to end with no conclusion?? No way!

I enjoyed every minute of this book. Interesting characters, fun look at Italian Culture, intriguing ending. Going on to the next book in the series. I LOVE finding a series as cool as this!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! It's hilarious and for anyone who is into surfing or has lived in So Cal, it's even better. Great job by Ed Harris as well. I don't submit a lot of reviews but sometimes I have to have my say.

In spite of the hot scene at the start....I don't feel the attraction, the pull, somehow. It doesn't spark for me. The premise is fun, but something is lacking in the romance.

Not happy to find this so-called 'book' ended like some kind of magazine serial! I'm ot giving up a credit to find I have to go to the next book to find the conflict resolved. Only...NOT. Because the next book doesn't address the issue either. I normally realy like Bowen's work, but this is a rip off.

A Little TOO Baroque

There are parts of this book that are fascinating and beautifully written, but it needs trimming. I survived the first few chapters that were little more than an extended history lesson disguised as a conversation. It got tedious, quickly, because I kept wondering what the story was about.

The characters are interesting, the work they are involved in is interesting - but again, there is too much unnecessary description and detail. It's as overdone as Baroque design. For example, in the section where Daniel joins the natural philosophers at the Comstock estate during the plague, we are treated to extensive discussions of every experiment by every one of the people present, an endless (albeit occasionally hilarious) round of dissections, weird concepts that don't turn out well. Not only did most of this not move the plot forward, the level of animal cruelty became gratuitous and disgusting. . If you are a person who is at all squeamish about live animal dissection - you probably want to avoid this book.

The question on my mind after a while was, WHY? Why drag all this out? I kept wanting to know what happened next in the greater context and the book never seemed to get there. I gave up.
