Great series
Revisado: 03-11-22
I’m loving this series and have already purchased the next book. The author is pumping out the books too which gives plenty of content to dive into. So happy I stumbled upon this epic tale.

Normally I go for historical fiction. Usually I enjoy things based on history and realism. Like Longbow, Agrincourt, or Long Rifles.
I was looking for more of the same when I stumbled on this series. I wasn’t sure if I’d like it since I’ve never delved into fantasy before but boy was I pleasantly surprised!!
While this first book is fantasy it feels like it’s a good balance of non-magic content. I like how it’s exposing me to the fantasy genre like I’m slowly wading into pool of magical water.
I’m warming up to this new genre and it seems like this was a great choice to help me try something new.
The book tugs on so many emotions. Humor, suspense, frustration (in a good way) and is so very fun and enjoyable. I can’t wait to get into book two and submerge myself in the rest of this series.

Historia
Will Inness and Gus Dawes have outrun Oliver Cromwell’s arrest warrant and fought off a Seneca war party to make a home for themselves on the wild Virginia frontier. But war is raging in the wilderness between the Five Nations of the Iroquois and their neighboring tribes while religious conflict threatens the peace of the English settlements on the coast. Will the violence reach them in the mountain valley they call Eden? Nowhere is safe from old enemies with long memories.

This is a great new series

I didn’t know if I could fall in love with these new character like I did with Roland’s story of the first series.
I am beyond excited to continue this new series. Is it too soon to ask when’s book 3 coming? Kidding… Caleb also sounds less robotic in this book. He’s easier to understand unlike the first book of this series.

Historia
The country is eager for peace, but there is anger in Cromwell’s victorious army. The men who fought for Parliament paid in blood to defeat the Royalists and secure their rights, but in Cromwell’s England, rights are reserved for only certain Englishmen. As unrest sweeps through the army, Captain William Inness speaks up for his men, challenging Parliament to honor its promises. For this, he’s accused of a crime he didn’t commit and faces the gallows. Where does a man run in Cromwell’s England to escape the hangman?

Book is great, narrator sounds robotic
Revisado: 09-03-21
I cruised through the entire Roland Inness series and enjoyed James Young’s narration.
Caleb Anderton’s voices, when speaking as the characters were great and a wonderful respite from his normal narration voice. In listening to him read the book you’d think his voice is not real and from an auto dictation program. He reads fast, without inflection and it doesn’t sound natural. Which is a bummer because this book is over 10 hours long. I really don’t know if I will be able to finish this fantastic novel. If Caleb were to speak naturally like when he does character voices I’d have no problem with his performance.
Looking forward to more Inness saga stories and forever hopeful we hear more of Roland.
