Historia
It was easy for Elizabeth. She married the man she loved, bore him two children and made a home for him which was the envy of their friends. It was harder for Ruth. She married Elizabeth’s son and then found that, somehow, she could never quite measure up. Isolation, deceit and betrayal fill the gaps between the two individual women and between their different worlds. In this complex thriller, Philippa Gregory deploys all her insight into what women want and what women fear, as Ruth confronts the shifting borders of her own sanity.

Historia
Mabel Beaumont’s husband Arthur loved lists. He’d leave them for her everywhere. ‘Remember: eggs, butter, sugar’. ‘I love you: today, tomorrow, always’. But now Arthur is gone. He died: softly, gently, not making a fuss. But he’s still left her a list. This one has just one item on it though: ‘Find D’. Mabel feels sure she knows what it means. She must track down her best friend Dot, who she hasn’t seen since the fateful day she left more than sixty years ago.

Implausible
Revisado: 06-13-24
There were many life lessons, however the main story line; the 62 year marriage, based on what? the teenage passionate love that never changed after 62 years of absence are implausible in my opinion.

Historia
A sophisticated, pause-resisting double love story spanning 40 years-an unforgettable Brief Encounter for our times. It is 1960. When Jennifer Stirling wakes up in the hospital, she can remember nothing-not the tragic car accident that put her there, not her husband, not even who she is. She feels like a stranger in her own life until she stumbles upon an impassioned letter, signed simply "B", asking her to leave her husband. Years later, in 2003, a journalist named Ellie discovers the same enigmatic letter in a forgotten file in her newspaper's archives.

Good Story - too long a middle
Revisado: 11-20-23
Another good story from this author, however like her others the middle is just too long imo. Prevents me from ordering another.

Half of story is fiction
Revisado: 06-19-23
I've been to the Greenbrier so thought I would enjoy the history - which I did; HOWEVER, and it's a BIG however, 1/2 of the story is pure fiction. The reader might suspect this, but it is abundantly clear in the authors note at the end. I guess the historical portion wouldn't have made a book without the fiction - poorly done IMO.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Not What I Thought
Revisado: 02-08-23
It was an interesting story with its' 3 main characters. I couldn't wait for Cameron to grow up and stop whining. His turn around came remarkably fast and late in the story for my liking. Not everyone in his situation has a family member, Aunt Jean, who stuck by him for the first 30 years of his life.

What a Jumble
Revisado: 08-26-21
Didn't need the mysteries answered sooner, but the author is extremely long winded; even the credits. If the contents of the 50 year old letter were ever revealed I missed it and some questions answered where never witnessed.
My second and now last Kate Morton book.
