Poor narration and flimsy plot
Revisado: 02-22-23
I’m not sure how this book received so many positive reviews. There is very little character depth, and the storyline is not believable.

Inspiring

I wish Logan would have narrated…it didn’t have the same impact as the narrators voice was too “canned” for my taste. Logan’s story is very inspiring nonetheless!

Historia
Today’s college-bound kids are stressed, anxious, and navigating demands in their lives unimaginable to a previous generation. They’re performance machines, hitting the benchmarks they’re “supposed” to in order to reach the next tier of a relentless ladder. Then, their mental and physical exhaustion carries over right into first jobs. What have traditionally been considered the best years of life have become the beaten-down years of life.

Profound and Moving
Revisado: 09-25-18
At the beginning, I didn’t think I would love this book, but love I did. Ms. Jones is a remarkable writer and her insight into love, marriage, and parenthood is stunning. Her characters and their struggles were so real I felt their sadness to my core and was at times moved to tears by the gut wrenching emotions that rang so true of real heart break. Their feelings rang so raw and true. I fell in love with most of them, Roy, big Roy and his mother, Olive, in particular. The narration was perfect. Not only does the author detail the depths of grief and sorrow over being a black man wrongly accused, she paints the struggles of love and family dynamic poignantly. This book contains countless pearls of emotion so true in real life. I will most certainly listen again as it is a work of art that one cannot possibly take in just one time.

Historia
I almost didn't publish Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends on It. I was terrified. Here I was, a CEO who'd fallen apart after his company failed, writing a book about how loving himself saved him. I thought I'd be a laughing stock and my career would be finished. But I stepped through the fears and shared my truth with the world. What happened next changed my life. The book went viral. Amazing people all over shared it online and on social media. They bought copies for friends and family. They wrote heartfelt reviews. For some, this book literally saved their lives.

Fantastic
Revisado: 02-13-17
This book is the real deal. Simple and profound. Unlike other self help books that prescribe multiple steps to follow, Kamal's writing is so simple to implement. The key, as he says, is to make a vow to yourself and commit to the practice. Practicing, and making your truth your single minded focus, every moment of everyday, even in the backdrop of your life, is what will yield results. Thank you, Kamal, for writing this short gem that has the power to transform one's whole life....as long as we make the vow.
