Historia
On doctor's orders, Bertie Wooster retires to sample the bucolic delights of Maiden Eggesford. But his idyll is rudely shattered by Aunt Dahlia who wants him to nobble a racehorse. Similar blots on Bertie's horizon come in the shape of Major Plank, the African explorer, Vanessa Cook, proud beauty and 'moulder of men', and Orlo Porter, who seems to have nothing else to do but to think of sundering Bertie's head from his body.

The last and the BEST
Revisado: 07-25-16
I love this book! I’ve listened to it multiple times and enjoy the narrator so much. This is the “last” book and, for me, it is an incredibly satisfying story for someone who has read a few of the stories and know who is who. For those who have read them all, this is a very satisfying close.

Historia
Captain Arthur Hastings, invalided in the Great War, is recuperating as a guest of John Cavendish at Styles Court, the "country-place" of John's autocratic old aunt, Emily Inglethorpe - she of a sizeable fortune, and so recently remarried to a man 20 years her junior. When Emily's sudden heart attack is found to be attributable to strychnine, Hastings recruits an old friend, now retired, to aid in the local investigation. With impeccable timing, Hercule Poirot, the famous Belgian detective, makes his dramatic entrance into the pages of crime literature.

the story is great and so enjoyable, but the narration is really the crown jewel. Hugh Fraser is so talented as an actor and portrayed Captain Hastings wonderfully in the series. But I had no idea he would be such a skilled narrator! I enjoyed this book so much. I can't recommend it enough.

Loved It! You Must Try Molly Harper!
Revisado: 05-24-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I most certainly would! I'm so glad I stumbled along Molly Harper. It was a smart, funny, and interesting book with romantic details that don't overpower everything. It's not a pot boiler, but a really funny book with a romantic subplot. I love that it was so funny and well considered. Typically a lot of romance is trashy crap. I could recommend this to any of my friends, even ones who "hate romance novels".
What was one of the most memorable moments of Undead Sublet: A Free Story from 'The Undead in My Bed'?
The interaction with the landlord at the end. I will say no more.
Which scene was your favorite?
When they declare war on eachother and try to make life miserable for the other person.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Kind of. I became super happy as I had found a new series to enjoy. It's so much more interesting than the Sookie Stackhouse books (all of which I have read). Smarter, funnier, and things actually happen! Hope it lasts!
Any additional comments?
You know when you're looking for a book to read that isn't too much? Not too intellectual, not too horrific, not too much of a brain strain, not so much with the military/war. You're just looking for something akin to watching Friends/Seinfeld/Frasier on tv. Not too much of anything so you have to pay super close attention. This is a great book for that and so are many of the Molly Harper books (I have now discovered). They're great for listening to while cleaning, while at the gym, while walking the dog, etc.

Um...Perfect!
Revisado: 05-24-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! How cute was this reading? What a great way to dip your toe back into your childhood.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved revisiting BP's story. It's easy to forget the way the book was written and just remember plot details. But the story was so great, I'm glad I was able to listen to it again.
What does Pauline Brailsford bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narrator added so much! I'm so glad it wasn't read by a 25 year old American woman. It was just like sitting down with my English grandmother (who does not exist).
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Not really. It was a few minutes long and a kids' book. It was not a lifechanger.
Any additional comments?
What a great extra! Love that this fun little story was free.

Why Is Everyone Complaining? Relax People.
Revisado: 05-23-13
Would you try another book from Charlaine Harris and/or Johanna Parker?
Sure! I need books to listen to while I do housework. Johanna Parker did an ok job, but her voices for men were kind of awkward.
If you’ve listened to books by Charlaine Harris before, how does this one compare?
This book was just as mediocre as the rest of the series.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
It was a fine performance. As I said before, the rendering of the male voices were awkward to listen to. However, that was partially due to some pretty boring writing.
Do you think Dead Ever After needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. It's not going anywhere. Give up the ghost. I had really hoped that the series was going to ramp up and end up somewhere exciting. But really, why did I think that? We're talking about numerous books where not much happened: Sookie brushes her hair, eats, drinks, gets dressed, cleans house, we get background info on people we don't care about, we get information on situations that don't move the story anywhere, etc. Charlaine Harris never tricked anyone. She just made up an interesting situation and an interesting set of characters. Then she plopped them around and had them do some pretty boring crap.We don't need more of this town or these characters. They are all just...done.
Any additional comments?
I really think that the people complaining about the ending aren't being fair and are having a bit of revisionist history when it comes to remembering the other books. (Which I totally get, because I did it myself.) It's always been a C/C- series. Great for listening when you need to do laundry or pay attention to other things. But this has never been a stellar series, so why is everyone so angry about the end? It had a sub par ending because it was a sub par series. Quit beating up CH for not ending it how you wanted it. She let you know long ago what to expect, but you went and got excited by True Blood. She never tricked anyone. People need to relax and enjoy it for what it was: something to read while you do other stuff.

The Audio Quality Will Bother You
Revisado: 05-23-13
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The quality of the audio was distracting. This is absolutely not good when you're trying desperately to concentrate and cultivate mindful awareness of what is going on around you. If you have headphones in (likely) you're overwhelmed with this bad audio while you're trying to walk in nature (or on a treadmill, though who would do that?). The author's voice and intonation were great and the music was unobtrusive, but this is one of those unfortunate cases where the audio quality really kills it.
Would you ever listen to anything by Anne Marshall again?
If it were of a better quality, perhaps I would. It would depend on the topic as it could very quickly cross the bridge to woo woo territory.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator did not detract, the audio quality did. The narrator did a fine job. The audio engineer did not.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
No, as this is a freebie it just sparked the desire to turn it off and delete it off my phone. It just wasn't for me.
Any additional comments?
I know that is super picky to complain about the audio quality, but listen to it! It really detracts from the one time you're absolutely trying to concentrate on your senses.

It Can't Be Creepy When The Narrator Sounds Nice.
Revisado: 05-23-13
If you could sum up Shoggoth's Old Peculiar: A Free Short Story by Neil Gaiman, Plus a Preview of The Ocean at the End of the Lane in three words, what would they be?
I wouldn't. Who can do that?
What other book might you compare Shoggoth's Old Peculiar: A Free Short Story by Neil Gaiman, Plus a Preview of The Ocean at the End of the Lane to and why?
A little like a nugget of Neverwhere.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Neil sounds like a wonderful person, but I can't get the full experience of the book with him reading it. It is nothing against him, but audio books are not just read but performed. He's not the best performer.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I didn't. It was a fun little story. I think I would have had a more intense reaction with a different narrator. Like many of NG's books there is an unsettling feeling you get when you realize that all is not what it seems. This is severely muted when it's read in a more happy go lucky way.
Any additional comments?
I love NG and I really appreciate him providing us with these free stories. It is extremely generous of him and he's a wonderful part of the literary community (and the Audible community!). But I love his books so very much that I am somewhat pained in hearing him read them. I am buying everything that he attaches his name to, but I will stick to purchasing them in paper or on my Kindle.
