Historia
Neal Stephenson is a blazing new force on the sci-fi scene. With the groundbreaking cyberpunk novel Snow Crash, he has "vaulted onto the literary stage." It weaves virtual reality, Sumerian myth, and just about everything in between with a cool, hip cybersensibility - in short, it is the gigathriller of the information age.

I think this is Stevenson’s best work
Revisado: 11-03-22
Very entertaining and with a good even build and conclusive ending unlike the rushed ones some of his other books have. Pretty fun to read 30 years later in the context of Meta etc. Very fun

A true life spy drama
Revisado: 09-11-22
If it wasn’t so well documented you wouldn’t believe it was true, like a spy novel. Incredible story, only loses it a bit in the last few chapters where he’s a bit over the top.

In celebration of the week-long, once-in-a-decade rite of Apert, the fras and suurs prepare to venture outside the concent's gates - opening them wide at the same time to welcome the curious "extras" in. During his first Apert as a fra, Erasmus eagerly anticipates reconnecting with the landmarks and family he hasn't seen since he was "collected". But before the week is out, both the existence he abandoned and the one he embraced will stand poised on the perilous brink of cataclysmic change.

Meh
Revisado: 08-18-22
Honestly thought it would have been better given the hype this book has received over the years. In short, classic Stephenson- long build up with weak character development and then a rushed ending which feels lacking. Good narration though, makes it more fun.

Great book but terrible narration.
Revisado: 02-18-22
The voice actors change back and forth all the time which is very annoying and confusing. The voice actor will change for the same character from chapter to chapter and sometimes even within chapters which is extremely distracting and not the quality one would except.

The book is good, but after the points listed in the first hour or so you can extrapolate the rest. A bit dated now, but does a good job of putting the 21st century economy into a words. Listen at 1.25x.

There are a lot of charts in the text version, but it isn't necessary to the story as they aren't often directly referenced in the narrative but are more optional illustrations of concepts. Very good overall

Dan Carlin was right
Revisado: 09-13-15
Excellent first hand account of combat. The author skillfully brings you in to the psychology of warfare, the horrors, role of warriors in society, and the toll it can take on the human psyche.
Recommended for all adult listeners who wish to empathize and understand friends family who have experienced combat, or for those wishing for insight of the greater societal impact of war.
At times, it is difficult to follow along, as foot notes or quotes are read in-line and unannounced which can be slightly confusing at times.
Overall, very good.
