Historia
The ritual murder of a prostitute named Ada McKinley in a bedroom on decrepit Pentecost Alley would ordinarily occasion no stir in Victoria's great metropolis. But under the victim's body the police find a Hellfire Club badge inscribed with the name Finlay Fitzjames - a name that instantly draws Superintendent Thomas Pitt into the case. Finlay's father - immensely wealthy, powerful, and dangerous - refuses to consider the possibility that his son has been in Ada McKinley's bed.

Three sad stories, that end happy.
Revisado: 09-26-23
I liked this book even though it was slow going and sad throughout! I would have even given it a 4 star but I’m never ok with characters who sleep together on their first date and after weeks of this, call it love. What the character Chuck had was love.

Until the beloved local community centre is threatened with closure. This is a fun read with twists and turns. I however, dislike a book with lots of base and explicit language.

Loved the story! Disliked the “base and vulgar” language.
Revisado: 08-03-23
This story is a lot of fun. I love how the characters evolve and progress throughout the book. The ending is clever and the twists and turns throughout, make it a fun read.
I am never a fan of vulgar language. I am even less a fan of using God and Jesus’s names connected with that vulgarity. I am very curious why an author feels the need to add vulgarity. It “DOWN GRADES” the characters, but even more I lose respect for the author.

Historia
Among the most celebrated and beloved novels of 2021, Anthony Doerr’s gorgeous third novel is a triumph of imagination and compassion, a soaring story about children on the cusp of adulthood in worlds in peril, who find resilience, hope—and a book. In Cloud Cuckoo Land, Doerr has created a magnificent tapestry of times and places that reflects our vast interconnectedness—with other species, with each other, with those who lived before us, and with those who will be here after we’re gone.

This book was three complete books in one with additional stories scattered in. I was completely confused through most of it. I couldn’t finish it and had to read a summary about the book to even fully understand what in the world is going on.
