A top police investigative unit breaks an illegal gambling operation in the context of rampant police corruption and drug-fueled gangster violence in the city. Lead detective Jeremy Ryder is a physically powerful, quiet and meticulous investigator. First in a great series
Revisado: 02-25-19
I liked all of the books in this series, the last one best of all. Maybe this first one is the slowest of them all, but I can see that it was necessary to set the scene for all of the books. What is clear is that Jeremy Ryder is every bit as powerful as Jack Reacher in Lee Child's books. He is a wonderful policeman and his wife Fiona is brilliant, too. They are a great couple with a great dog, and it was sad to get to the end of their adventures. I hope they come back.
The narration is nice and easy and flows comfortably. I think that a couple of women's voices would have added to it, but it is still very professionally done.

This sequel to the action-packed Devil Dealing depicts the ongoing search by detectives Jeremy Ryder and Navi Pillay for the evil gangster Skhura Thabethe, dealer in stolen weapons, drugs and murder. The secondary plot shows the detectives uncovering a link between stolen weapons and the local trade in drugs.

Lovely thriller
Revisado: 07-23-16
What made the experience of listening to Gun Dealing the most enjoyable?
Nice characters and accents, and lots of action and thrills
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mavis, the young constable. She was great (I liked her especially because I've already listened to the next audiobook in this series and I know what she develops into: it's good to see her here at an earlier stage).
What about Ian Patrick’s performance did you like?
Very nice and easy and confident with no tricksiness.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The funeral scenes was touching and the scene where the parents and grandmother visit the captain was so, so beautiful.
Any additional comments?
Maybe it could have worked better with female voices adding to the male voice. I don't know, really.

Historia
Midnight on a moonlit beach. Six cops execute four thugs after a heinous crime. They are unaware that there is a witness to the executions. Thrilling action explores tactical, ethical, and criminal choices made by officers of the law. A stark image of moral ambiguity underpins their struggle to maintain courageous and precarious control of all-engulfing crime. Plain-dealing cops face scrutiny in an emotional journey through choices made in the day-to-day confrontation with evil.
