Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Ooo Cults and family drama!
Revisado: 11-27-24
Gotta say I truly loved this one. From start to finish the book slowly unwound more and more of the eerie details. For a mother to make the choices she did in this book and get to the point she did. It was too good to put down.

A Dr. Lucinda Berry classic, hooks you in, and keeps you guessing. Not as sick and twisted as her longer books. A nice, short listen in between books.

Revisado: 10-23-23
Communication is one thing we can always improve and understanding how to get your point across is vital. This book not only teaches you better tactics to negotiate, it also teaches you how to get your point across. This is key when someone simply will not listen or understand your point. Reiterate and go at the conversation in a slightly different way and that helps drastically. Have applied these already and will listen at least 2 more times.

Historia
Finite games, like football or chess, have known players, fixed rules, and a clear endpoint. The winners and losers are easily identified. Infinite games, games with no finish line, like business or politics, or life itself, have players who come and go. The rules of an infinite game are changeable, while infinite games have no defined endpoint. There are no winners or losers - only ahead and behind. The question is, how do we play to succeed in the game we’re in? In this revelatory new audiobook, Simon Sinek offers a framework for leading with an infinite mindset.

Historia
Trauma and Recovery is revered as the seminal text on understanding trauma survivors. By placing individual experience in a broader political frame, Harvard psychiatrist Judith Herman argues that psychological trauma is inseparable from its social and political context. Drawing on her own research on incest, as well as a vast literature on combat veterans and victims of political terror, she shows surprising parallels between private horrors like child abuse and public horrors like war.

Historia
We all know the dangers of sugar and salt: but the danger attributed to the second white crystal has more to do with getting too little of it, not too much. Too little salt can shift the body into semi-starvation mode, causing insulin resistance, and may even cause twice as much fat to be absorbed for every gram that's consumed. Too little salt in certain populations can also actually increase blood pressure as well as resting heart rate.

Revisado: 07-12-23
Yes, there are parts where the book repeats itself and really drives home the positives of salt. For those on here that say, oh it talks too much about sugar or how how do we know we are getting the right amount of salt? Shut up. Listen to the whole book. Dr. James DiNicolantonio literally breaks it down by chapters. Be slow to speak and quick to listen. I listened and I learned. Thank you Dr. DiNicolantonio for showing us all the importance of a much more needed white crystal with The Salt Fix. When everywhere we go the ever addictive sugar crystal is lurking.

Historia
The desire for dignity is universal and powerful. It is a motivating force behind all human interaction - in families, in communities, in the business world, and in relationships at the international level. When dignity is violated, the response is likely to involve aggression, even violence, hatred, and vengeance. On the other hand, when people treat one another with dignity, they become more connected and are able to create more meaningful relationships.
