fantastic narration enhances excellent story

this book was really scary. my threshold is pretty high and this book made me remove a headphone to listen for otherworldly screaming more than once. the ghosts are excellent. clearly a lot of the authors heart was in it. on top of that the narrator like totally sells it. I'm not sure what the narration version of 'chewing the scenery' is but this is that. several times I was taken aback by the vocals they were adding. the voices they choose are perfect.

I haven't heard this much passion in a narration by the author since Scott sigler. phenomenal, and an actually scary story as well

Great humor, gets better and better as you go

Great job! Gets funnier as you go. Also if you enjoy immature conflict with demons/paranormal forces a la John dies at the end you will enjoy this

Book is much better than it has any right to be

I went into this book with low expectations.
1.) title sounds bad
2.) premise is meh (never read a good "litRPG" before.)
3.) new author

Listened to the whole thing in 2 days. Its slow for about 20 minutes and then as soon as the guy logs into the game its awesome. Bought the sequel. You will like it. Just buy it. Its not like a literary masterpiece or anything but this author has a natural talent for fun stories. couple that with the narrator being Dedicated. Also the story isnt pointless, its actually interesting and it is going somewhere. The best thing I can liken it to really is its like you are the spectator to one guy with no friends playing a really awesome D&D campaign

Humor reminded me of Dresden Files. Action reminded me of Red Rising. The handful of existential moments thrown in oddly reminded me of the book Frankenstein (the author is versatile). Whatever it works and this book is a blast. Have fun

Expect a smart, well executed thriller

I am discerning about action stories. They are for the most part too dumb. This book is the wonderful exception. If you liked that TV show alphas you will love this. Also this narrator is phenomenal and really showing off. I haven't even gotten halfway through and had to write this A+++++++
