Wonderful story, up until the last 30 minutes
Revisado: 06-14-21
I'm a big fan of Abnett and his work. If it were not for him, I would have never gotten into warhammer in the first place. The book still oozes Dan's charm, but it really did seem like he either had a deadline, or reached a word limit he wasnt able to go past, due to how wildly fast the ending happens. In no way, shape, or form is it a bad book, just a little sudden with its conclusion.

On the world of Verghast, a grinding war between two hive cities - one loyal to the Imperium, the other fallen to the worship of the Dark Gods - is bolstered by the forces of the Astra Militarum, spearheaded by the Colonel-Commissar Gaunt and the Tanith First and Only. But bitter rivalries and treachery threaten to derail the defence of Vervunhive, and it falls to Gaunt to take command of the Imperial forces and forge victory from an almost certain defeat.

Really gives you a feel for what war in the 40k universe is truly like. Gaunt is quickly becoming a personal favorite of mine, and stories like this just solidify that opinion

Fixed The Recording Issues, Worth Every Second
Revisado: 03-03-21
The top review here talks about how there are bloopers left in the recording, and i guess, by the glory of the Emperor, someone went back and fixed it. There were parts that definitely played over each other for a fraction of a second, but nowhere near enough to take away from Steven's amazing reading of one of my favorite characters in the Warhammer 40k universe.

Historia
When Professor Aronnax agrees to investigate a series of attacks by a mysterious sea monster, he begins an incredible underwater journey that leads him from Atlantis to the South Pole. Through unforeseen dangers, surprise encounters, and exotic settings, this epic adventure is a tour-de-force of imagination and narrative grandeur. Jules Verne was remarkably successful in foretelling the wonders science held for the future. This, his most famous novel, earned him the title of "Father of Science Fiction."

Not the best place to start, but an absolute blast
Revisado: 06-05-20
if you don't know much about WH40K, Don't be afraid to have a wiki up, of some kind, to get a bit more detail, cause the book does assume you have some sort of knowledge base to work with, but the story is honestly one of the best in the whole archive, as a stand alone adventure.

Can honestly say overall, this one was my favorite of Dan's Eisenhorn trilogy. An already establised storyline with a very good, self contained story. Could not put this one down.
