Historia
This lyrical account of a beloved time and place celebrates a father-son relationship. In Cogan’s Woods, Ron Ellis fondly recalls annual August hunting trips with his father: heading toward the great forests of Kentucky in the passenger seat of the family Mercury, exploring the foggy woods and hills above the Ohio River.

Like I was there.
Revisado: 09-30-18
This book was wonderful. The author's style really takes you there, hunting in 1960s Kentucky. I have found many good hunting books on audible and this is one of my favorites. Ray Childs is also one of my favorite narrators. If you enjoyed his narration, check out his other narrated hunting book by Gene Hill.

Great post-apocalyptic book without the propaganda
Revisado: 02-11-16
Great book with lots of action. And best of all, it wasn't loaded with all the paranoid, political nonsense some of the books are plagued with. It was just plain enjoyable and I can't wait for the next book in the series!

If Glenn Beck wrote a post-apocalyptic novel...
Revisado: 08-06-15
... this would probably be it!
First, the narration was AMAZING. The narrator, Kevin Pierce, was a perfect pick for this book. I'm going to intentionally seek out books he narrates; he's that good!
As for the story: Initially I was very caught up in the story and wanted to listen to the book every chance I got. One of the other reviewers already hit on the stereotyping when they commented on the overall weakness of the female characters and the negative portrayal of the poor, and I agree with that assessment. At one point in the story two young hikers are introduced into the plot and a peri-apocalyptic debate on guns ensues followed by their concerns of using ATVs in a restricted area. Huh? Really? These "offended liberals" (the author's words) exist in the plot to only make obviously-bad decisions and generally do everything wrong. I won't spoil it, but you can probably guess what happens to them.
The book just goes off the rails here. I was hoping for a new, exciting post-apocalyptic series; and what I got was more of a propaganda piece. This is too bad, because there really was some enormous potential here by someone who does clearly have a gift at writing.

In her letters she asserts that the transcripts are an exact recording of a series of interviews she conducted with an extraterrestrial being as part of her official duty as a flight nurse in the U.S. Army Air Force. During July and August she interviewed a saucer pilot who crashed near Roswell, New Mexico on July 8, 1947.

Couldn't finish it.
Revisado: 01-30-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I don't know anyone that would enjoy this.
Has Alien Interview: Reader's Edition turned you off from other books in this genre?
No.
Would you be willing to try another one of Lyanne Greystoke’s performances?
Sure.
What character would you cut from Alien Interview: Reader's Edition?
N/A
Any additional comments?
This book started off strong and really grabbed my interest. But later, it just devolved into a giant mess of nonsense: Space stations in the asteroid belt, space battles, humans being taken over by aliens, mind control, force fields, etc. etc.
And one of the other reviewers already commented on the poor production quality. It is bad, bad, bad. The volume is not consistent throughout the book and there are numerous times when sentences are being read over one another.
I would pass on this one.

Too simplistic.
Revisado: 08-23-06
As many of the other reviews state, it is a "common sense" approach to managing your money. So the recommendations he offers includes: don't buy cars at "buy here / pay here" car lots, don't ever do "rent to own" programs, avoid leasing cars, etc. His recommendations are TOO "common sense." So I was pretty disappointed. I was hoping more for strategies that I could use to improve my financial status. None of his recommendations applied to me. Also, I did not appreciate how he talked down to the listener. Seriously, he speaks to the listner like they are a spoiled little child. In sum, if you are like me and you don't fall for the "buy here/pay here" and "rent to own" scams, then you should look for another book on finance.

Historia
In the winter of 1918, at the height of World War I, history's most lethal influenza virus erupted in an army camp in Kansas, moved east with American troops, then exploded, killing as many as 100 million people worldwide. It killed more people in 24 weeks than AIDS has killed in 24 years, more in a year than the Black Death killed in a century. But this was not the Middle Ages, and 1918 marked the first collision between modern science and epidemic disease.

Should have been better focused.
Revisado: 04-25-06
I'm a physician and I have always been interested in reading about the 1918 influenza pandemic. As one of the other reviewers stated, only a portion of this book is actually about the outbreak. This author should have spent more time focusing on the pandemic and less time reviewing the entire history of medicine. Also, it annoyed me how the author attempted to sensationalize this subject by his endless use of graphic similies. So this book gets 3/5 stars because it is just "average."
