I absolutely love Powerless by Lauren Roberts. I’ve read it three times since its release, and it continues to hold a firm spot on my go-to list of book recommendations. With the final book in the series now available, I decided to reread from the beginning to refresh my memory—and even after all this time, Powerless still captivates me. The storytelling is immersive, the characters are rich and compelling, and the world-building is wonderfully done. I’m looking forward to many more exciting reads from Lauren Roberts!

Best book of the series, hands down! When book #3 (Ollie & Silas) fell a little flat for me, I worried that Meghan Quinn’s Agitators series was losing some of its magic. But He’s Not My Type (Book #4) completely erased those doubts—Halsey and Blakely’s story was absolute FIRE! What really set this book apart was the dynamic banter, the multiple-character interactions, and the hilarious group text threads. It reminded me exactly why I fell in love with this crew in the first place. The chemistry, the humor, the emotional depth—it all just hit perfectly. This book reignited my excitement for the series and has easily been my favorite so far. I’m almost tempted to skip book five just so I don’t have to say goodbye… almost!

Meghan Quinn delivers another entertaining and spicy read with Right Man, Right Time, part of her Vancouver Agitators series. While my favorite couple remains Pacey and Winnie, Silas and Ollie’s story was still a fun and engaging ride. Quinn’s signature humor and steamy romance shine through, making this a book that’s easy to devour. That said, my only real criticism applies to this book and the series as a whole: I find it surprisingly difficult to keep track of the male main characters. Whether it’s due to similar names or overlapping personalities, I often have to pause and remind myself who is who. This isn’t something I usually struggle with in series, so it stands out every time I get momentarily lost in the lineup of hockey-playing heroes. Still, the writing is light, witty, and undeniably hot. If you’re looking for an entertaining love story that brings the heat without requiring too much mental effort, Right Man, Right Time is a solid pick.

My love for Elsie Silver’s books started with the Chestnut Springs series, and she quickly became one of my must-read authors. I devour her new releases the second they drop, but until now, nothing has quite captured me the way the Eaton family did. I figured it was just nostalgia—after all, that series is what made me fall in love with her writing in the first place. Then came Wild Side. And now I have to take it all back. Tabitha and Rhys had me hooked from the very first page. Their chemistry? Perfection. The tension? Absolutely delicious. Every moment of this book had me either swooning, holding my breath, or grinning like an idiot. Silver knows exactly how to balance emotional depth with sizzling romance, and Wild Side might just be my new favorite of hers. I wouldn’t change a single thing about this book. It’s one I know I’ll revisit again and again. Loved it!

Ali Hazelwood delivers yet another fun and delightful love story in Check & Mate. While it may not be my absolute favorite of her works, it still makes for a highly enjoyable read. The book is listed as YA, but I personally see it as more of a New Adult novel—just without the spice. Some of the conversations between the main female character and her siblings, particularly regarding sex, felt a little cringey, which is why I wouldn’t hand this one over to my young teen or pre-teen daughters. However, it’s certainly suitable for older teens. That aside, Check & Mate has all the charm, wit, and swoon-worthy romance that Hazelwood fans have come to love. She truly can do no wrong! If you’re looking for a light, engaging romance with Hazelwood’s signature style, this one is definitely worth a read. Age recommendations: 16+

Like many readers, my journey with Jennifer L. Armentrout began with Poppy and Casteel in From Blood and Ash. But once I stumbled upon Nyktos and Sera, my love for this world was sealed. This series has completely captivated me—I’ve devoured every book, rereading them more than once, and Born of Blood and Ash was no exception. I worried that saying goodbye to Nyktos and Sera would leave me in a book hangover, but Armentrout crafted a satisfying conclusion that honored their journey beautifully. That said, I’m still desperate for The Primal of Blood and Bone to finally release so we can see how these sister series intertwine further. Armentrout can do no wrong in my book. Her writing, world-building, and ability to weave romance, tension, and deep emotion together keep me hooked every time. I’m officially a super fan, and I highly recommend this book—and the entire series—to anyone who loves epic fantasy romance.

Why, oh why, has it taken me so long to discover the wonder that is Ashley Poston? The Dead Romantics completely captivated me from the very first page to the final sentence. This book was an absolute delight—funny, heartfelt, and beautifully unique. Florence and Benji’s love story was both charming and unexpected, offering a refreshing twist on the romance genre that kept me engaged the entire time. The blend of romance, grief, and the supernatural was handled so well, making for an emotional yet thoroughly enjoyable read. For me, this is a solid 4.5-star book. The only reason I’m holding back that last half-star is because I reserve five stars for books I’d put in my “must recommend to everyone” category. That said, I adored this story and will absolutely be reading everything by Ashley Poston that I can get my hands on. If you’re looking for a unique, whimsical romance with depth and heart, this one is definitely worth picking up!

Unfortunately, this was a DNF for me. I went in with an open mind, especially given all the glowing reviews, but I struggled to connect with the characters. Delilah never felt particularly likable, and while I wanted to enjoy Claire’s storyline, her high-strung nature made it difficult to take her seriously. I typically read around 200 books a year and rarely give up on one, but for whatever reason, this just didn’t hold my interest. To be fair, this is the only Ashley Herring Blake novel I’ve read, so maybe her style simply isn’t for me. That said, if you’ve loved her other work, you might still enjoy this one. Personally, I don’t see myself picking up another of her books anytime soon.

Devney Perry is easily one of my favorite authors—if she writes it, I’ll read it, and more than likely, love it. The Treasure State series has been such a joy to follow, and until Merit, I didn’t think any of the stories could top Millie and Ford’s. But Stevie and Maverick completely surprised me—I adored every twist and turn of their journey to happily ever after.

From start to finish, I was hooked, savoring every emotional moment and unexpected revelation. Merit is a perfect blend of romance, heartache, and redemption, making it a standout conclusion to an already fantastic series. While I’m sad to see Treasure State come to an end, I can’t wait to see what new romantic adventures Devney Perry has in store for her readers.

Highly recommend!

Classic romance and timeless storytelling by Jane Austen

Jane Austen has rightfully earned her enduring reputation as a masterful storyteller. Like so many others, I have adored Elizabeth and Darcy’s love story in Pride and Prejudice and felt my heart break alongside Marianne’s in Sense and Sensibility when Willoughby abandoned her for fortune elsewhere. Yet, until recently, I wasn’t as familiar with Anne Elliot and her journey of love, loss, and second chances in Persuasion. Second-chance romance is undoubtedly my favorite trope, and once again, Austen won me over with this beautifully written tale. Her signature wit, engaging characters, and emotionally rich storytelling make Persuasion a compelling read. Anne’s quiet strength and Captain Wentworth’s unwavering love create a deeply satisfying romance, proving that true love can withstand the test of time and regret. While Persuasion may not be my absolute favorite Austen novel, it is still a poignant and worthwhile read. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves classic romance, timeless storytelling, and, of course, Jane Austen.
