Historia
When a body is found floating in London's Royal Albert Dock, successful public relations expert Kay Christie is sent to quiet the media, but things get complicated when it emerges that she knew the victim. As events spiral out of control, Kay discovers that those close to her may be harbouring another secret - the story of a missing girl. Can Kay discover the truth before her life unravels and she risks losing everything? In the Wake questions whether we can ever truly leave our pasts behind and explores the lengths that we will go to protect the people that we love.

Wow. What a pleasant surprise !!!
Revisado: 07-25-22
All I knew going in was : “Crime / Suspense / Set in London” That was good enough for me. Imagine my shock and surprise at finding myself gasping and exclaiming out loud in response to developments and listening in one go. Yes It’s been ages since I needed to know what happens next so badly that I only pushed pause to run into the shops or switch devices. Looking forward to the next effort from this author !

Historia
In the continuation of his fictional autobiography begun in I, Claudius, Robert Graves tells the dramatic story of Claudius' thirteen-year reign as Emperor of Rome. A must listen before running out to see the new film Gladiator!

Great Follow-Up to I, Claudius
Revisado: 01-29-13
If you could sum up Claudius the God in three words, what would they be?
Historical Fiction Candy
What did you like best about this story?
The intrigue, the bloodthirsty ambition, the Bacchanalian behaviour.
What does Frederick Davidson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He had a very upper class accent that I thought leant itself well to the "autobiography" of this ancient aristocrat.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Claudius, Emperor and Idiot Savant ..
Any additional comments?
Perfect for those Ancient Rome historical fiction nuts who have already enjoyed " I, Claudius " and for those who wish to enjoy this book as a stand-alone. Claudius was such an interesting character in history. Was he really as doltish and simple as everyone thought? Was he incredibly intelligent but socially inept? You decide. I thoroughly enjoyed the intrigue, the illicit liaisons, deception, ambition, betrayal, lust, greed and all those other tasty topics that are part and parcel to tales of Ancient Roman politics.
