The narrator MAKES the already fantastic story
Revisado: 03-04-25
The story arc of the White Trash Zombie series is at turns laugh out loud funny, touching, exciting, and wild but the narrator absolutely *makes* the tale come alive with her interpretation of Angel. Her male voices are sometimes a bit rough but I have not laughed out loud at a story like this is years.
Well done!

The story was fun but the errors were many
Revisado: 03-10-24
The misuse of words in context by the author and the mispronunciation of words by the narrator were common stumbles in an otherwise very entertaining story. I’m hoping that this is due to this one being the beginning of a series and that with the next or subsequent books, the trip ups will reduce. It was definitely entertaining enough to ignore the gaffes and start the next book.

I really enjoy the stories but struggle with the narrator’s voices.
Revisado: 12-24-22
I struggle with the narrator’s voices, particularly the male ones. They’re almost painful. All the same, the stories themselves are fun enough that I keep coming back for more.

In Sandman Slim Stark came back from hell for revenge. Once again all is not right in L.A. Lucifer is back in Heaven, God is on vacation, and an insane killer mounts a war against both Heaven and Hell. Stark’s got to head back down to his old stomping grounds in Hell to rescue his long lost love, stop an insane serial killer, prevent both Good and Evil from completely destroying each other, and stop the demonic Kissi from ruining the party for everyone. Even for Sandman Slim, that’s a tall order. And it’s only the beginning.

Not my favorite Sandman Slim.
Revisado: 02-26-22
Normally, I really enjoy Sandman Slim tales. The performance is still really good, the tale is a whole lot of foot stamping angry ‘Rar!! I’m so mad!’
Meh… not this time. I’m sure it’s my tolerance that’s gone down. The story line and characters are still entertaining enough for me to try again. Maybe next time.

As always, the Dynamic Duo delivers
Revisado: 09-26-21
I always enjoy Luke Daniels reading Kevin Hearne writings. Bringing in familiar characters and adding new ones.
There were several laugh out loud moments almost entirely inspired by Luke Daniels’ delivery of Buck Foy’s dialog.
I recognize that Australian and Scots accents are almost entirely foreign to Luke Daniels and code switching between Scots, English, Irish, Australian, and Asian Accented English is vocal acrobatics at its best.
I’m willing to give Luke Daniels some latitude on this one but I’m sure *he* feels it could have been better himself.
All the same, the tale was entertaining if not as masterful as some of the Iron Druid stories.
I can’t wait to hear more.

One of the Best Iron Druid tales yet.
Revisado: 03-25-21
I’ve been a fan of Luke Daniels reading of the Iron Druid tales since the beginning. I’d been putting off listening to this one because I didn’t love the last tale with the Olympians.
This one, however, was excellent. The introduction of Owen brings another layer of engagement and some seriously laugh outloud moments as well as some genuinely touching ones. It’s a story of heartbreak, redemption, and heartbreak over and over again, with an excellent injection of humor (who doesn’t love Oberon?) and adventure.
As always, Luke Daniels *is* the voice of Atticus O’Sullivan (and of my son’s favorite Minecraft books ;) ), and his performance in this episode is masterful. I’m always impressed at his ability to create different accents convincingly and to code W’s witch between then in a blink. I’m sure there’s a bit of crafty editing involved occasionally, but without the quality voices to work good editing isnt as valuable.
Excellent job team! And thank you to Kevin Hearne for sharing with us another tale of the characters I’ve come to love.

Historia
When an unknown someone shoots him and leaves him to die, Harry Dresden hopes he might be heading to a better place. Unfortunately being dead doesn't make Harry's life any easier. Trapped between life and death, he learns that his friends are in serious trouble. Only by finding his murderer can he save his friends and move on - a feat that would be a lot easier if he had a body and access to his powers. Worse still are the malevolent shadows that roam Chicago, controlled by a dark entity that wants Harry to suffer even in death.

If you’ve fallen out of love with Dresden...
Revisado: 05-08-20
I’d listened to the first 14 books in the series and kind of lost faith in Dresden. I got tired of the angry running about doing angry ‘Forzare!’ yelling all the time and making relentless bad decisions.
I took a break. For a couple of Years...
I finally decided in the midst of Quarantine, to go back and give Harry Dresden another try.
I’m so glad I did!! This installment in the Dresden Cannon has me laughing out loud, crying, and nodding in silent appreciation for the thoughtful insight Mr. Butcher brought to this story and to Harry.
James Marsters is, as usual, excellent.
If you’ve fallen out of love with Harry, give this one a try. You won’t be sorry.

Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

My first experience with Madeline Miller and it was excellent
Revisado: 02-22-20
I’ve been an audiophile for decades now (think books on records as a kid...).
The last few years have been difficult for my family due to several life experiences and listening to audiobooks has been difficult due to distraction and inability to focus on my part.
This book has been able to break through the noise and keep me coming back for more. Mz. Miller has given new life to Ancient Greek myths for me which haven’t drawn my attention since reading Edith Hamilton in Middle School. She has brought Patroclus, Achilles, and the host and of Trojan Warriors to vibrant life again.
As we know, the narrator can make or break a book for the listener. Frazier Douglas has been magnificent. While his rendering of women’s voices is only fair, it wasn’t distracting from the overall flow of the story.
Thank you to the author, narrator, and production crew for bringing audiobooks back to me.
