Historia
For Meredith Gale, ending her life seems like her only choice, and that choice is the reason she’s dangling by her fingertips from a bridge high above the freezing water of the San Francisco Bay. But someone or some thing has other plans for Meredith, and as her fingers slip from the cold steel of the bridge, a disembodied voice asks her a simple question: “Candidate 13: Do you wish to be saved?” Realizing her mistake too late, Meredith screams “Yes!” and instantly finds herself transported to a mysterious island, alongside hundreds of other Candidates like her.

Intriguing from beginning to end
Revisado: 08-27-17
This book fascinated me from the first chapter. There are many extravagantly imaginitive elements but, at the core, the evolution and rise of the spiders seems plausible and even inevitable. I was surprised to find myself enthusiastically barracking for the arachnids in their looming conflict with humans.

Narration by the author fails to please

Listening to this book for the second time, without the mystery of an unfolding story to draw me on, I found that I couldn't continue. The author cannot compete with the equally superb narrations of Frank Muller and George Guidall.
