The book is entertaining and interesting, specially because has a lot of stories from the author life. It is very well narrated as well.
Many of her theories are common sense and common practice in many countries in western Europe , also in the past. Nevertheless, doesn't mean her teaching style is the best and the others are bad. She herself is a successful and happy adult who had a taugh childhood and received a different type of education. Then many of the advices she gives based in own experience are not reachable for the majority of the world. Even though she says is middle class ( in Silicon Valley), the resources to educate her children at not at reach of everyone. Not everyone can let choose the after school activities to ther kids, because they simply can't afford it. Neither can afford cooking together with their kids due to work (nurses, police officer and many other with night shifts and hard schedule). So common sense theory, but the actual need is a book about how to implement the theory into the real life of an average middle class family. The last part of the book about the refugee crisis in Europe, climate change and UN agenda is , in my opinion, not relevant for the topic and it makes the author seems naive and idealistic.

To prove his hypothesis, he uses exaggerated examples and some times myths of the history. He has a North European / protestant centered bias as promoters of progress, against "intolerant" Catholics and East European. All that makes the defense of his hypothesis doubtful. Economic part is strong as numbers are difficult to refute, social progress such as freedom, tolerance, violence, etc. is more questionable, because the author try ro use numbers outside its context.
