The door to magic is closed, but it’s not locked. And now Joshua Jay, one of the world’s most accomplished magicians, not only opens that door but brings us inside to reveal the artistry and obsessiveness, esoteric history, and long-whispered-about traditions of a subject shrouded in mystery. In 52 short, compulsively listenable essays, Jay describes how he does it, whether it’s through the making of illusions, the psychology behind them, or the way technology influences the world of magic.

I am a magician. I have known of Josh since he was a little kid. So that’s my honest reveal. If you love Fool Us, Penn&Teller, David Copperfield, Marshal Brodeen or even the 21 card trick you will enjoy this book. His hopes for the next great magician alone is why you should listen to this book.
Josh has a gentle style and it comes through in this book. A wonderful peek into the mind of people like me. A must read for anyone young or old. Thank you Josh for putting into words what most magicians are thinking.

There’s a saying: The door to magic is closed, but it’s not locked. In How Magicians Think, professional magician and best-selling author Joshua Jay not only opens that door, he brings us inside and turns on the light, revealing the artistry and obsessiveness, the inside history, and the fascinating traditions of a subject long shrouded in mystery. But above all, he reveals the mindset behind the magic — how magicians become who they are, develop their skills, conjure their illusions, and delight the rest of us.

Let a professional read it.
Revisado: 01-10-18
My only connection to good literature is audio books. I was looking forward to this book. A third of the way through part 1 I was board stiff by the monotonous reading of The Judges son. I understand the sentiment and desire of the author to somehow connect to his dad through this effort but it does nothing for me and I can’t even continue to listen. I would hope this is redone soon with a professional. #disappointed

Thank you Walt Cunningham for writing this book and telling me I should read it when I met you earlier this year. God bless you and your fellow Astronauts who risked so much for our country. I was the guy at the talk at KSC earlier this year when the HOF opened who asked the last question at your talk. Again thank you and God bless. I hope I get to see you again at KSC to shake your hand again. You went above and beyond the call of duty for me and I want to thank you again.

The man many consider to be the determining factor in driving Trump over the finish line by motivating millions of undecideds and the "Deplorables", who would have otherwise sat out the election, provides a crucial first look at the early direction of the Trump presidency.

0 scholarship. Just ranting and raving. Before I finished the book Savage on his radio show had started attacking Trump. Gotta keep up the conflict to sell more books I guess. A waste of my time.

One battle is over, but there are many more to come. This book is an indispensable guide to fighting the opponents of the conservative restoration. It identifies who the adversaries are, as well as their methods, motivations, and agenda, including the particular issues with which they will try to advance their destructive goal - and it lays out a strategy to defeat all of it.

Historia
Blaze TV and top radio host Dana Loesch explains that the biggest political problem today is that the people who run this country have no idea what life is really like for ordinary Americans. In fact, they have contempt for the very people they claim to represent. When the owners of a small pizza parlor in Indiana were asked by the local press whether they would ever cater a gay wedding, they said no, citing their personal religious beliefs.

Ah I think I am in love.
Revisado: 07-25-16
I met Dana at a book signing she was a very nice lady. Next thing I knew I started reading this book I was enthralled by it I couldn't stop listening to the audio version. I also met Dana's husband Chris at the book signing I told him I hated him because I love this woman and I want to marry her so I asked if she had a sister. The answer was no. But the book is amazing if you don't know anything about the conservative movement you really need to listen to this book. Even if you do know what a conservative is you need to listen to this book so that you can learn all the dirty little details about DC and all their corruption.

Historia
History is about so much more than memorizing facts. It is, as more than half of the word suggests, about the story. And, told in the right way, it is the greatest one ever written: Good and evil, triumph and tragedy, despicable acts of barbarism and courageous acts of heroism. The things you've never learned about our past will shock you. For example, the reason why gun control is so important to government elites can be found in a story about Athens. Not the city in ancient Greece, but the one in 1946 Tennessee.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly truth
Revisado: 05-16-14
What made the experience of listening to Miracles and Massacres the most enjoyable?
Knowing it was all true. Knowing these were things never taught in school.
What did you like best about this story?
Finding out the press has always been an ugly pursuit of ratings as far back as WWII.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Made me happy and sad at the same time. The Tokyo Rose story made me cry. In the end she was rewarded for her life's work but it was such a terrible thing we did to her.
