I can’t in good faith give this series more than 3 stars, though I think the last book was better than the first two. The writing felt as if it hadn’t been proofread and contained a lot of unnecessary adverbs and such that made me cringe at times. And while the plot itself was interesting - Dragons in a world that acknowledges they need Tamers to retain their humanity - parts of it also made me cringe. It was hard to believe that the main characters didn’t find each other immediately after arriving at the Akademy for example. And given that a possible marriage was a key plot of book 1, that the main characters never once pondered that as a way around their predicted fates was disappointing. The end result was so clear but the main characters were so oblivious. I wanted to see how the story ends, but I’m not going to get the next series. It was a good story idea, I’ll grant it that, but the execution didn’t work for me as a reader.

Great background books while doing chores

I’ve listened to these books, in addition to the stories about Cass, Del, and Nix, and this review is as much in favor of them as it is for this bundle. If you liked the others, this is worth a credit. There are some repeated phrases and the wrong voices done for a couple lines for this series, but I feel like that’s more an editing error than an issue with the books. They’re cute and easy to listen to while doing housework. Though it does feel as if I’ve heard the same love story written 4 different ways now, I’m more amused by how the same tropes keep appearing than upset. If you haven’t listened to anything in the series yet, I suggest starting from the top with Cass’ series.
