This should be the most listened to podcast everywhere
Revisado: 03-20-24
These podcasters are hilarious. I absolutely love their unfiltered approach. These are cases that if you’re not from Ireland you may not have heard of, but the feminist & progressive way they handle the topics are absolute gold.

Historia
Shelby works as a dog walker in northern California, and she’s just finished up her bi-weekly trip to the park with a husky named Pluto. When she brings him back to his house, she finds his owner - Todd Burke, a well-known local businessman and founder of an organic supplements company - lying on the bathroom floor, dead. A detective arrives on the scene. As she interviews Shelby, the body is inspected by a medical examiner, and more cops search Todd’s home, it becomes clear that the victim’s life was less picture-perfect than his clean-cut persona might lead you to believe.

Historia
While the investigations go on in Dallas and Baton Rouge after the disappearance of a senator's daughter, FBI agents CJ Johnston and Paige Riley are assigned to the sleepy backwoods of East Texas for a dead-end assignment to infiltrate an all-girls school. Random disappearances dating back 50 years and more raise red flags that point to the tiny, isolated community of Hoganville. But CJ and Paige fear there will be little distraction from the memories of the one-night stand they shared six months ago.

Really should have a disclaimer
Revisado: 10-31-23
The fact that this is about two women, both cops, does not make it attractive for one of them to be passive aggressive and incapable of taking no for an answer. The pushiness is grotesque and not even Abby Craden can save it, and she could read a calculus textbook and make it interesting

Great historical fiction mystery
Revisado: 10-19-23
This is not a romance novel nor is is marketed as such, so reviews complaining about that should be ignored and reviewers dismissed as borderline misogynistic at best. This book is stellar, yes there are triggers, but nothing outside of realistic and probable for the era. Narrator is on point, and I blasted through this in a weekend

Least favorite Waters MC saved by Lori Prince
Revisado: 10-18-23
Out of all of Erica Waters main characters, I found this one the most annoying. But, Lori Prince’s narration and inflection makes her bearable. Side characters are all far more likable and far less grating. The story is on point, great even. Lori Prince has that relatable, down to earth vibe and is wonderful here.

Incredible
Revisado: 07-19-23
I can’t believe this book isn’t being talked about more widely. It’s brilliant. Everything about it is amazing. From the prose to the historical context to the relevancy to modern issues, it’s wonderful. The narrator did an amazing job. The writer implemented humor into the book as well which elevated the story even more. Don’t skip this one. It’s worth a credit, heck I’d pay full price for this one. It’s that good.

Solid
Revisado: 07-14-23
The only potentially confusing aspect is how close two of the years involved in the story are but if you listen to the narrator she gives the year in which the chapter occurs so if one listens, it’s not as confusing as folks seem to think

Bellefleur writes great characters
Revisado: 04-24-23
Bellefleur’s characters are always phenomenal. They’re smart, witty, funny and likable. Her dialogue is always on point and this may be her best work as far as the dialogue is concerned. The narrator changed the accents for some of the roommates after the first or second time they show up, but not even that detracts from the clever writing. This trope isn’t easy to do in a fresh and smart way but the author nailed it. I always enjoy Lauren Sweet as a narrator and this was no exception. She nails the tempo and inflection required for comedic timing and the is book all the better for it. I can’t say I’d read the book in print, but I’d listen to anything that this pair releases for sure.

This was amazing. It’s everything speculative fiction should be. Well researched, laced with and based on facts. Realistic, gut wrenching, heart breaking, and so realistic in every way. it’s just a brilliant piece of art.

Two years after extricating herself from an emotionally abusive marriage, high school teacher Caroline “Caz” Baker is still healing. Her friends, though, arrange a date with a hired escort to throw her headfirst back into the dating pool. Worst main character, maybe ever
Revisado: 04-07-23
Caroline “Caz” is probably the single most annoying characters I’ve ever encountered in any media format. There is absolutely no way that the second character would put up with her boohoo-ing and whining without any redeeming qualities. The reviewer that said she needs therapy was spot on. More importantly, the character that sticks around through Caz being the worst is so unlikely, that the whole narrative falls to sh*te. There isn’t even any trauma to explain her victim mentality and “woe-is-me” bs. I don’t think this author is for me. The narrator, however, is amazing, and I will seek out more from her
