A Must Read Marriage Resource!

I’ve been a pastor in a large church for over 15 years and this is by far the clearest, most practical, and Biblically accurate resource I have come across on marriage. It is having a tremendous impact in both my marriage personally as well as in the marriages of the couples I minister to in my congregation.

If I could recommend one book for engaged couples, newly weds, happily married couples, and couples in struggling marriages, it would be this book!

In addition, if you are a pastor and you want a practical ‘how to’ tool for couples in your church, this book is ‘must have’ as a counseling resource. I have found it to be one of the most readily embraced resources that BOTH husbands and wives see as accurately representing how they experience their marital relationship.

Limitless Possibilities

John Maxwell knocks it out of the park with this destined to be classic resource.

John provides a comprehensive compilation of capacity maximizing principals in his book "No Limits". He presents a lifetime of acquired wisdom that highlights the why, what, and how to of continual personal growth, impact, and life changing accomplishment.

As you digest each chapter of "No Limits", you will feel overwhelmed yet more empowered than ever before to make the difference you were placed upon the earth to make.

I would highly recommend adding this to your annual reading list of top five books to read each and every year!

Reading with Substance

An excellent presentation of the state of the Western World's view of reality and the implications for the past, present, and future direction of both Christian and non-Christian western societies. Moreland considers the implications of these views both from a macro as well as micro perspective bringing the application of how one's world view has direct implications for our experience of life. He presents practical examples, resources and ways to apply real world living within the context of a world view consistent with reality. Like the content, the literary presentation of the material is quite substantial when compared to the typical western reading material of most recent decades. This can be difficult to follow at times but well worth the effort in pushing
through some of the more challenging sections. One of the most useful aspects of Moreland's book is his reference to dozens of contemporary authors and their respective works, from all perspectives, that provide year's of additional reading material to help stretch one's mind and understanding of present day Western perspectives. I highly recommend this for those with a desire to expand and develop their mind as an expression of their love and commitment for God.

Clear Concise Capture of Full Book

Dallas does a great job summarizing the unabridged version of the same title. Great as a refresher if you've read the original title or if you have limited time and just want Dallas' key thoughts on this subject.

Great presentation of how God's kingdom, the kingdom He has entrusted to you, and His reality all function now and into eternity is presented.

A look into the character of a nation

The Lion's Gate presents personal stories of Israeli soldiers from all walks of life and various vantage points leading up to, during, and after the seven day war. What struck me most throughout the various accounts of soldiers, from those in the trenches to the commanders n the war room, were the honorable character traits evident in each of their lives: The value placed upon life, belonging, justice, loyalty, duty, and respect; the demonstrated commitment to service, leadership, ingenuity, integrity, ownership, and sacrifice for others. The reader will gain insight into Israel's historical past and unfolding history through the short but revealing stories from this six day war.

Excellent Presentation of Life's Purpose and Reality

Ravi's approach to conveying life's truth and reality is both refreshing and stimulating.

The book's title is an apt description of it's contents. Ravi presents the what, why and how of God's hand in our lives today and into eternity. His personal stories and illustrations, and of course, his thought provoking explanation of God's reality calls us to make a clear choice:: do I truly believe in, and most importantly, will I choose to surrender to, the skillful hands of The Grand Weaver?

I chose to read this novel of Ravi's because of the desire to gain clarity on my purpose in life and who is behind it. I wasn't disappointed. I highly recommend this title.

Intellectually and Emotionally Honest

Ravi and Vince present 10 specific reasons for not only the "why" of suffering but also a fair contrasting look at alternative perspectives beyond just a Christian response. If you are an atheist, agnostic, bitter believer, or inquisitive Christian apologist, each chapter provides compelling and thought provoking responses to this difficult and reality based question: "Why Suffering?". I highly recommend it.

Excellent Presentation of the Christian Life

Bonhoeffer presents a comprehensive review of all aspects of the Christian life. Sometimes his free form writing style and intellectual depth is somewhat hard to take in but well worth the read. His biography by Eric Metaxes also provides a 'real life/practical application' of the concepts Bonhoeffer discusses in the Cost of Discipleship. I recommend you read it first to appreciate how committed Bonhoeffer was to living out the more heady concepts he reviews in Cost of Discipleship. This helped me push through (and re-read) some of the chapters in COD when I didn't quite understand them the first time through :o).

Speaks sincerely and directly to real struggles

Ravi writes from an extensive reservoir of knowledge, experience, and authorities. He respectfully addresses real struggles and concerns many face with the Christian faith. Whatever your world view, this book is a must read and provides a framework from which to access your philosophical approach to life.
