Historia
Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God, and no myth, revolutionary, or misunderstood prophet, insists Benedict XVI. He thinks that the best of historical scholarship, while it can't "prove" Jesus is the Son of God, certainly doesn't disprove it. Indeed, Benedict maintains that the evidence, fairly considered, brings us face-to-face with the challenge of Jesus-a real man who taught and acted in ways that were tantamount to claims of divine authority, claims not easily dismissed as lunacy or deception.

Historia
Just after midnight on July 30, 1945, the USS Indianapolis is sailing alone in the Philippine Sea when she is sunk by two Japanese torpedoes. For the next five nights and four days, almost 300 miles from the nearest land, nearly 900 men battle injuries, sharks, dehydration, insanity, and eventually each other. Only 316 will survive. Lynn Vincent and Sara Vladic tell the complete story of the ship, her crew, and their final mission to save one of their own.

Fantastic! Epic tale extremely well told.
Revisado: 04-17-24
First the authors describe the various missions and accomplishments of the ship and it’s crew. It takes care to describe the lives of many of the shipmates before, during, and after - right after, and then long after the ship was hit by 2 Well Pl. torpedoes near the clothes of World War II. It is an extremely well story. Much of it focuses on Captain McVey and the Navy ultimate scapegoating of him - Something that happened in advertently by the navy. Highly recommended!

Historia
Most people know this book from the Academy Award-winning motion picture starring Winona Ryder. Now, introduce them to the sparkling American classic behind the movie: a charming portrait of the joys and hardships of the four sisters in Civil War New England. Separated by the war from their beloved parents, these "little women" struggle to find their place in the world.

Virtues Practiced, rewarded and Celebrated
Revisado: 04-03-24
Different personalities, different struggles and opportunities, one in loving one another, their neighbors, friends and strangers. So many good examples among the main characters of Christian living in the world. Beautiful and still very realistic. I’ve seen this kind of “communal” life, and it does work and bear great fruit. The present Uber confused world could learn plenty from the little March women.

Great and Inspiring Personal Story
Revisado: 12-18-23
I like that Ray tells the story of the wider fighting, the important battles and turning points of the war, and these were highly interesting and informative, putting everything in perspective. However, in the end I am left with the overwhelming courage, and the great good nature of this, simple, humble, heroic, common man.

Great characters, terrific story
Revisado: 12-02-23
I loved the individual character portraits their weaknesses and strengths, and their growth and changes over the years. Musashi in particular was so great, and continued to grow and develop from a good, heroic but egotistical young man to a wise, deep and thoroughly good man, certainly someone to emulate. I found myself pondering my own character, and growing as the story cast light on it and encouraged and stimulated my thoughts and actions.
I think there were deep truths in this story. I am a Christian, and there certainly was nothing inconsistent with what I have learned and tried to become over the years.
The difficulty of this audible book was the number of characters. Especially with an audible book, it is super difficult to keep up with all the minor characters, as much as I wished I could. I’ve had similar difficulties with big Dostoyevsky novels.

Too clever by half
Revisado: 07-29-23
I got extremely disenchanted with this story on about the fourth iteration of the same story in the future, with slight modifications, and the same characters. I gave up somewhere past halfway through the book, as I couldn’t stand it any longer. The narrator was good. The story was hugely flawed in my opinion. For some reason a lot of people liked it so, good for them. I didn’t.

Historia
In this bold, momentous work, the pope, in his first book written as Benedict XVI, seeks to salvage the person of Jesus from recent "popular" depictions and to restore Jesus' true identity as discovered in the Gospels. Through his brilliance as a theologian and his personal conviction as a believer, the pope shares a rich, compelling, flesh-and-blood portrait of Jesus and incites us to encounter, face-to-face, the central figure of the Christian faith.

Revisado: 05-10-23
AWonderful description of bees life. It was fun, clear and pretty amazing.
It was a little redundant places, and details and points were rehashed, I suppose to be sure the reader didn’t missed the point or grasp a connection. I suppose that is useful and coming from a scientific mind can be excused.
