The Reader Ruins Listening to a Decent Book

In my opinion, the reader shouldn’t be using a microphone to read anything more extensive than a fast food order back to those waiting in the drive-thru. He was not “prime time” professional from a number of delivery directions. Shame on Audible for such low standards.

Performance has a nice rapid pace, but still clear

The reader has a nice and clear voice. On the downside, she mispronounces between 5 and 10 percent of the words.

Female Reader Totally Unqualified, Male Solid

In my opinion, the content and format of the book is average. They only offer one meaning for each word.

I thought that the male reader was very good. However the female reader mispronounces easily more than 15% of the words (main words, synonyms, antonyms). She even gets wrong very common words on occasion. Several times I thought I was meeting a new word, but once she spelled the word, I recognized that the female narrator had simply been way off in the pronunciation.

It seems apparent that the minimum standards for being on Audible are quite low, and quality checking minimal — or non-existent.

Great Material Made Tortuous by the Reader

The EFT material is solid, but the reader is an amateur, and just ruins the experience. The reader has the most irritating habit of ending every sentence with an unnatural rising of inflection.

The Reader of the Book Drags the Book Down

The book seems reasonable, so out of sheer commitment to that I endured the tortuous reading. The reader has a style that is anti-therapeutic, and just plain irritating.

One of the five best novels this Prof. has ever read!

First, praise for the performer Humphrey Bower: I will readily forgive the reader for what I consider to be his weak French accent — because of his absolutely superb everything else! Bower is an artist who brings you there, and in!

As to the novel itself, the author inspires awe with his dialogue, description, and his psychological themes presented through the characters. His language and ideas lead you to think and feel in new ways — good ways.

Book experience ruined for me by the reader!

I have been listening to audio books for nearly thirty years, and this reader was for me the worst I have yet to experience in close to three decades.

The reader leads you away from Jung’s words and constantly back to himself. The reader’s nasal dominated voice (irritating in itself) is dwarfed in offense by a pronunciation snd sing-song cadence that seems almost a ridiculous parody of someone trying to sound erudite — or like an actor. I ordered a hard copy instead — to try and find out what Jung wrote here.
