Historia
It is the summer of 1919, and Constance Haverhill is without prospects. Now that all the men have returned from the front, she has been asked to give up her cottage and her job at the estate she helped run during the war. While she looks for a position as a bookkeeper or—horror—a governess, she’s sent as a lady’s companion to an old family friend who is convalescing at a seaside hotel. Despite having only weeks to find a permanent home, Constance is swept up in the social whirl of Hazelbourne-on-Sea after she rescues the local baronet’s daughter, Poppy Wirrall, from a social faux pas.

Multiple Plot Lines and Witty Banter - Enjoy!
Revisado: 07-11-24
The novel started a bit slow for me, but I soon found that I was completely enthralled and cheering on Poppy, Constance, Harris, and the women of the motorcycle and flying club. I enjoyed the smart banter and thinly veiled insults along with the multiple plot lines.

Untamed Florida
Revisado: 10-25-23
Decades before the theme parks and beach resorts was the beautiful, untamed state of Florida. This multi-generational story of hardship, love, and loss along with the rich descriptions of a Florida long ago were well worth the read.

Interesting story, but too many holes
Revisado: 07-21-23
I’ve really enjoyed other books by the author, but this one left me with questions because there were too many holes in the story. I still wanted to see how it ended, but I hope future books in the series are better.

Loved the story and characters
Revisado: 07-03-23
I really enjoyed this story and it’s array of characters. The author did a great job of stringing multiple story lines together into one. I hope there are more books about Stone’s search for home.

Can’t wait for the next book!
Revisado: 03-14-23
I love to read the work of first time novelists, and this one had me hooked in the first few pages. Complex, flawed, and yet still relatable characters paired with an intriguing storyline made this book hard to put down. I devoured the book quickly wanting to see how it all came together. Now that I’m finished, I’m looking forward to the next book in what will be a great series.

Wyoming, 1876. For as long as they have lived on the frontier, the Bemis and Webber families have relied on each other. With no other settlers for miles, it is a matter of survival. But when Ernest Bemis finds his wife, Cora, in a compromising situation with their neighbor, he doesn’t think of survival. In one impulsive moment, a man is dead, Ernest is off to prison, and the women left behind are divided by rage and remorse.

Beautiful story
Revisado: 12-15-22
This is a beautiful story, and I enjoyed that it was told slowly and with great detail. The pace of the story felt in tune with the passing of winter in the book. The descriptions provided a glimpse into the beautiful, lonely, and brutal frontier life of Wyoming in the late 1800s.
