Historia
Does nature really make us feel better? The 3-Day Effect takes a look at the science behind why being in the wild can make us happier, healthier, and more creative. Whether it’s rafting down Utah’s Green River, hiking in Utah’s wilderness, or walking through Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC, scientists are finding that the more exposure humans have to nature, the more we can benefit from reduced anxiety, enhanced creativity, and overall well-being.

warm fuzzy feelings but very little science
Revisado: 05-22-19
I am still quite skeptical of the claims of this book because we've known for centuries that all of these effects can come from just exercise and physical exertion. these people did not return to Nature they took a luxurious 3-day camping trip with tents and food ready to hand in an emergency system that would come and rescue them if things were bad. all of them were rich people with lives that were stable enough that they could just take 3 days and disappear into the woods and not have to worry about bills or children or the elderly relative. none of the scientific methods used were very scientific at all and could not account for Nature's effect on the people's well-being. the thing that bothered me the most however was that most of the people's experiences align with basic escapism. they get a bunch of food and friends and spend three days partying in the woods and claimed that this made them healthier when in reality it was a way for them to avoid facing and dealing with their problems.

Historia
i>Imagined Communities, Benedict Anderson's brilliant book on nationalism, forged a new field of study when it first appeared in 1983. Since then it has sold over a quarter of a million copies and is widely considered the most important book on the subject. In this greatly anticipated revised edition, Anderson updates and elaborates on the core question: What makes people live and die for nations, as well as hate and kill in their names?
