Good story. Shocking narrator
Revisado: 09-03-16
Very enjoyable story and Turpin's narration is wonderful. However, Infantino's narration is so unnatural sometimes I couldn't comprehend sentences and English is my mother tongue! It was like hearing someone who is learning English read a story with all the emphasis in the wrong places. I had to stop listening.

Historia
On a damp July morning in 1946, two schoolboys find a woman’s body in a bomb site in north London. The woman is identified as Lillian Frobisher, a wife and mother who lived in a war-damaged terrace a few streets away. The police assume that Lil must have been the victim of a vicious sexual assault; but the autopsy finds no evidence of rape, and Divisional Detective Inspector Jim Cooper turns his attention to her private life. How did Lil come to be in the bomb site – a well-known lovers’ haunt? If she had consensual sex, why was she strangled?

Obvious and boring
Revisado: 05-06-15
This story didn't go anywhere. There was no 'thrill' in finding out who did what. Also I found the several nasty anti-Semitic comments totally offputting - I barely bothered finishing it.

Historia
Charlotte owns a Birmingham bridal boutique. But with her own wedding day approaching, why can’t she find the perfect dress - or feel certain she should marry Tim? Then Charlotte purchases a vintage dress in a battered trunk at an estate sale. It looks brand-new, shimmering with pearls and satin, hand stitched and timeless in its design. But where did it come from? Who wore it? Charlotte’s search for the gown’s history begins as a distraction from her sputtering love life. But it takes on a life of its own as she comes to know the women who have worn the dress.

I wish I had have known before I bought it. I stopped listening after the 10th mention of prayer and God. I have no problem with anyone listening to whatever type of literature they want I just wish I'd known before I wasted my credit.

Loved it! Can't wait for the sequel
Revisado: 02-26-12
I absolutely loved this story. The characters are engaging, the story is well formed and the narrator is spot on. I didn't want it to end. I am SO glad there will be a sequel.

Couldn't be bothered finishing
Revisado: 09-21-11
Really lame. Couldn't be bothered even finishing this one. The narrator's performance was good but the story and the characters lacked substance.

Grocery list
Revisado: 03-03-11
This narrator sounds like she is reading a grocery list instead of telling a tale. Seems like she can't get to the end of the book quick enough and with as little emotion as possible
