I miss the humor that, Robert B. Parker infused into his writing. There were witticisms in, Parker’s work that were absent in this work. That ingredient gave RBP’s work a distinctive flavor. I look forward to it. Otherwise, the author captured the essence of the characters and was faithful to them.

This was an excellent listen. With the exception of one section, where the author enters the area of the workings of the mind, the author knows his subjects and presents compelling arguments and clear inescapable evidence for their veracity.

Historia
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

Historia
The quiet of a Texas night is shattered by the sounds of screeching brakes, crumpling metal and, most shockingly, rapid gunfire. The auto accident Jack Ryan Jr thought he witnessed turned out to be a professional hit. Jack may be too late to save the victim, but he’ll be damned if he’s going to let the hitters escape justice. He’s got just one lead—a meeting the victim was going to. When Jack shows up instead, he’s drawn into the seedy underbelly of a small Texas town and the cold case of a college student who vanished from its streets.

I loved the performances. I loved the way the story was told. I missed the setting of the stage that was the first part of the book. I know some people found that a slog. I admit I did too back in the 60s or was it the 70s when I read the book. Our times are in some ways similar to the time in which this book is set. I was hoping to see our times through the lens of the Magister Ludi. Ah well, I’ll just re-read the book. Happy listening and reading to you all.

Historia
It's 1928, and Berlin is a city on the edge of chaos, where nothing is truly verboten. At central police HQ, the Murder Commission has its hands full. A killer is on the loose, and though he scatters many clues, each is a dead end. It's almost as if he is taunting the cops. This is what Bernie Gunther finds on his first day with the Murder Commisson. He's been taken on because the people at the top have noticed him - they think he has the makings of a first-rate detective. But not just yet. Right now, he has to listen and learn.
