Great Book but the Spicy Scenes Were Extra Spicy
Revisado: 08-25-24
The narrator is amazing and really brought this story to life. The writer is very talented as well. Several parts of the story had me LOL! Great ending.
I’m oldish and even though I’ve been married for 38 years, the sex scenes were a bit much for me. However, overall it’s a good book.

Historia
Welcome to the summer of 1985 in Philadelphia, when the city was rocked—in almost every sense of the word—by two unprecedented events: Mayor W. Wilson Goode’s May 13 decision to bomb the headquarters of MOVE, a controversial Philadelphia-based radical communal organization, and the July 13 Live Aid concert, where international rock royalty convened in Philly to raise money for victims of the Ethiopian famine. Separated by just two months and eight miles, these events would showcase both the best and the worst of the so-called City of Brotherly Love.

So much important history in this book! Things to celebrate, lots to mourn and things to learn from. Hopefully, by the end of this book, we will all feel compelled to really, “Reach out and touch somebody’s hand to make this world a better place…” Together – we certainly can!!! 🧎🏾♀️🙏🏾✨

Thank you Dana and Hillary and every single person who helped make this book a reality! 👏🏾🙏🏾🙌🏾💙🥰
This is now one of the most important books in my library (right up there with my colonized Bible) as my Body Trust journey has led me on a path of Liberation and Self Acceptance; thus the “I woke up like that poem” that I wrote after my first year of doing this work.
I love, love, LOVE listening to Hillary and all of the narrators – including me (hee hee hee 🤭) – Read these very radical, true and powerful words as I drive, move, knit, etc. Body Trust is my birthright. And it is yours too, Honey Child. Mmhmm.
If you are tired of: dieting, not feeling OK in your own body, living your life by external cues instead of listening to our own body’s cues, and for so many more reasons, I highly recommend this book!
My life has opened up so much since I began this work and so far it is the most impactful work in healing my relationship with my body and with food. Today, I unapologetically LOVE both my black, fat, oldish, disabled body AND, I love me some food! I also love this book and my Body Trust practice.

Historia
In poetic prose, Forrester navigates leaving a life in one state and picking up in another and repeating the process through various and vast personal, social, and political landscapes. It's a personal story, and it's an investigation of change and how we tend to hide away the most valuable parts of ourselves, especially, paradoxically, the parts that help us survive change, the parts that make us Soft-Hearted, and we need more soft-heartedness in all times and in all places.

A beautifully written & spoken, soft hearted story
Revisado: 12-08-21
There’s something so powerful about hearing the author read their own words. Even though I read this book before, it was so much more amazing to listen, and so creatively written and spoken by the author.
And she’s a songwriter too! What?! Mmhmm.
What a treat to also hear songs (impossible to hear when just reading) that the author wrote and had another artist perform.
I highly recommend this book and I will in fact, be reading it… I mean listening, again.

Loved this series!
Revisado: 02-22-20
I really enjoyed this series. However, there’s a part where a third person is brought in between E & A and I really disliked that scene. It felt unnatural and crowded because in my opinion, E & A are enough. I almost put this book down at that point... but I didn’t. I’m glad that I didn’t.

Historia
Young Hiram Walker was born into bondage. When his mother was sold away, Hiram was robbed of all memory of her - but was gifted with a mysterious power. Years later, when Hiram almost drowns in a river, that same power saves his life. This brush with death births an urgency in Hiram and a daring scheme: to escape from the only home he’s ever known. So begins an unexpected journey that takes Hiram from the corrupt grandeur of Virginia’s proud plantations to desperate guerrilla cells in the wilderness, from the coffin of the South to dangerously idealistic movements in the North.

FanTAStic Story & FABulous Actors!
Revisado: 05-22-19
Once I started listening to this story I didn’t want to stop... so I didn’t.
I felt like I was right there... in the story... witnessing everything.
My favorite part were the daily calls between mother and daughter. I’ve missed having that since my mother transitioned 15 years ago. While I’m close to my daughter, I think I’ll start calling her everyday.
Great twists in the storyline. Definitely not what I expected.
So will there be a part two???

Revisado: 12-10-16
Oh! My! Goodness! I Loved, Loved, Loved Reading/Listening To Yellow Crocus!!!
I purchased the audible book but will definitely be buying a hard copy.
This book was definitely one of the best books that I have read this year! Brilliantly and phenomenally written by Laila Ibrahim with a spectacular narration performance by Bahni Turpin!
To The Author:
Thank you Miss Laila (Or is it M'am? 😉) for writing a story that has tapped into just about every emotion of mine--if not all of them. This book had me laughing out loud, in tears, saying "Oh no!" out loud and more as I finished it with a smile. 😀
I'm looking forward to reading more of your work. I am equally inspired by your craft and the book.
More Please~ 🙏🏾🙂
