Sure, it never achieves the overall greatness of Ready Player One as many have pointed out, but it is a fun story in its own right. Comparing the two simply isn't fair in my opinion. As usual Wil does a great job with narration.

I really enjoyed this one. Graham has a great sense of humor and his honest approach to talking about his adventures is very appealing. This book details a motorcycle journey from the UK to Korea, and it is a trip that few people would probably be able or willing to attempt. I know he hates the comparison, but it was somewhat of an average dude's version of Long Way Round, except without the major budget, support vehicles, and staff to set everything up. This is how the "rest of us" would have to do a trip like that, as opposed to the famous/wealthy. Graham is a fellow metal head and bike lover, which was a nice touch. These are the types of people I surround myself with, so this one was right up my alley. Would love to hear his other books in audio format, I'm an instant buyer for sure if they are ever put out. Very entertaining, highly recommended!

Where does Captive Warriors: A Vietnam POW's Story rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I generally first hand like combat stories, and this was definitely not that. However, it was very interesting, I had no idea what had gone on behind the scenes in the 'hanoi hilton".

What was one of the most memorable moments of Captive Warriors: A Vietnam POW's Story?
Not surprisingly when Sam gets to go home. I can't even imagine how that must have felt.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I worked on it during my commute over a weeks period.

Any additional comments?
Good book, and an important story in American history.

Any additional comments?

A very odd book from a standard sci-fi sense, but it was cleverly written. Was definitely a departure from the usual spaceship and alien battle stories that seem to be the majority of what is out there. I love that stuff, but it was interesting to just listen to something different for a change. Going to check out Cobb's other book too. Narrator was good, he is able to differentiate between character speech and his own voice pretty well, no real complaints there.

Different take on post apocalyptic genre

Any additional comments?

The story has an interesting premise, more of a horror angle on the post apocalyptic genre from what I've read/heard before. Somewhat predictable in spots, but entertaining enough anyway. Would have liked to have seen the three sisters be a little more mysterious and less chatty than they were. The dialog between them was a bit iffy and contrived sometimes. All in all, not a bad book, and certainly nowhere near the worst I've listened to.

The narration was much the same, nothing particularly bad or fantastic about it. He did do a good job of differentiating character voices, as I hate when a narrator just reads the dialog in the same tone as his own voice. Again, neither the best, nor anywhere near the worst narration I've heard. It didn't outwardly bother me in any way.

If you're interested in the story, it is worth checking out. I'd like to give it 3.5 / 5 stars but I can't, so I'll round up in their favor at least.

Any additional comments?

The story is entertaining, I've loved 80s rock since I was a kid back then. I was happy to hear that Bobbie isn't throwing anyone under the bus, as the title of the book made me think that was what was going to happen. Instead the stories were plainly stated, and you can tell in many cases that she held back where I'm sure she could have gone into detail that others wouldn't want her to. Classy move, very cool. Bobbie did a good job narrating the book overall. She is not a professional narrator obviously, so it is expected that there will be quirks as mentioned in other reviews. I actually like that about the performance though, gives it a very "real" feeling that is lost when a highly polished narrator takes over the mic. All in all if you are a fan of the music and rock stars of the time, you're likely to enjoy this one.

Any additional comments?

Sebastian does an excellent job narrating this book, it is extremely entertaining and his personality really comes through. As a child of the 80s, hearing these stories is always fascinating. All of these guys were my heroes as a kid, so it is very cool to get some insight now as an adult into what was really going on behind the scenes. Highly recommended!

What made the experience of listening to Dead Center the most enjoyable?

The book is well written and easy to follow, and the narrator did an excellent job. After listening to a couple of other first-hand Vietnam accounts as well, I was surprised at how different each experience was depending on the assignment/location. Highly recommended!
