Too much teenage angst
Revisado: 01-30-25
Very disappointed in this one. I enjoyed his first book, so will try him again next time. Could not dredge up an iota of care for any of these characters.

Much confusion
Revisado: 12-03-24
Aside from Jason Isaac’s stellar performance, once again— I wished I had given this confusing mess a miss. Too many characters to develop properly. Atkinson is lot giving us enough of our favorite characters and too much diversion, and it’s not worth it. What a waste of Jason Isaac’s, who is so terrifically talented.

Historia
Waterhouse leads a quiet, ordered life as a retired police detective - a life that takes a surprising turn when she encounters Kelly Cross, a habitual offender, dragging a young child through town. Both appear miserable and better off without each other-or so decides Tracy, in a snap decision that surprises herself as much as Kelly. Suddenly burdened with a small child, Tracy soon learns her parental inexperience is actually the least of her problems, as much larger ones loom for her and her young charge.

Terrible American accent
Revisado: 10-08-24
Angus King is a terrific narrator; however, if he does another cringe-worthy American hick accent again (there have been more), I’m going to have to go to print instead of audio. Horrible, embarrassing job on those. I do love the story lines, but I feel insulted as an American.

Terrible Reader
Revisado: 12-12-23
Reader’s performance was just terribly overacted and often down-right shrill sounding. No amount of adjusting speed could kill the bad performance. I’ll have to read this one, as I do enjoy this series, but what a mistake to waste a credit on the audio. I kept have to go back and listen again (gasp), as I would lose the storyline being distracted and irritated. I will be adding this reader’s name to the “Do Not Purchase” list.

Great addition to the series

I’ve really been enjoying this series. Greg Patmore does seamless work with character voicing, so that you are not aware it’s being done. I hope to see more Tom Janssen episodes to come.

Interesting read
Revisado: 10-02-23
I read this book after reading the Sean Duffy series by McKinty. This story was written years before that, but is actually the continuation of Lawson’s story from where it began in the Duffy series. Satisfying read, as I find all of McKinty’s work. Gerard Doyle is a good narrator, however, I wish he could do a decent American accent, as those characters sound like they are in a bad 1930’s gangster movie. Overall, worth reading.

Jo told him the phone call had been about a woman who wanted to have her husband declared dead. Smith thought for a moment and then said, 'Hmm. There must be a few million women in this country who feel like that. I take it her husband's been missing for a while and she's decided it's time to move on. In the absence of a body, which is always a nuisance, she wants Diver and Diver to confirm there's no proof he's alive. And I've told Jason a dozen times I'm not getting involved in anything matrimonial. I have enough trouble sorting out my own relationships.'

This one took a bit of time to hook me, but once it did it was a good solid Smith tale. At the end, I’ve never had enough.
