Years ago, Lindon left his home as a powerless Unsouled. Now, he goes to war with the most powerful beings in the world over the future of Cradle itself. I’m sad that it’s over! I wish there was more.. but I guess all good things must come to an end… unfortunately.

Did he just say “Stanima”??
Revisado: 06-18-24
Not done with this book yet, but it’s been pretty rough trying to get through it.. this narrator has nothing on Armen Taylor. This guy’s inflections are very awkward… it’s almost like every sentence is a question. And he keeps mispronouncing words! I guess the editors weren’t paid enough to care.

Historia
Twenty years ago, the Merge brought armies of monsters flooding into the West Coast. Dungeons popped up in shopping malls, airports, and Starbucks. Walls were built to contain the spread, but the promise of priceless loot dropped by the creatures inspired a new type of gold rush. Clay Jaeger has nothing left outside the walls. Civilization took everything he worked for, chewed it up, and spat it out. Now Clay, his wife Alex, and his beer-loving, chainsaw-toting brother, Joe, are going west to try their hand at monster killing.

Loved it!
Revisado: 02-10-24
Travis Baldree has quickly become one of my favorite narrators..he does such an amazing job with the voices, and inflections. Now onto the book, it’s fun and adventurous, and also hilarious! Joe is my favorite character and he says some pretty funny sh*t… so far so good! Onto book 2 :)

Historia
Several years have passed since the apprentice and his master, Will and Halt, first met, and Will is finally a full-fledged Ranger with his own fief to look after. The fief seems sleepy - boring, even - until Lord Syron, master of a castle far in the north, is struck down by a mysterious illness. Joined by his friend Alyss, Will is suddenly thrown headfirst into an extraordinary adventure, investigating fears of sorcery and trying to determine who is loyal to Lord Syron.

Why change the narrator?
Revisado: 12-23-23
I love the series, but the narrator didn’t keep any consistency with the previous books. The names and places were pronounced differently, and the character voices were not anything like they were in the past. The narrator isn’t terrible, but it’s hard to switch to someone new reading in the middle of a series. I knew I just had to get through this one to get to the next book where the narrator is the same as the previous titles. Thank goodness it’s finally over.

Love the story, dislike the narrator
Revisado: 10-23-23
The first book has an amazing narrator! I really wish they would have kept him, instead of changing it to this Neil guy. It’s sometimes hard to determine which character is speaking, and I often have to rewind to make sure I didn’t miss anything. His tone during the story could use a little work, too. Love the story but wish they still had the first book’s narrator.
