Historia
All of us face challenges, rough patches and struggles in life. And during these times we are often our own worst enemies, experiencing unwelcome emotions, thoughts and behaviours. The one thing that has stood out to Professor Peters in his years of supporting people as a Consultant Psychiatrist is that no matter what you may be facing in life, if you have the right mental toolkit in place then you will be able to cope - and even thrive.

A different approach and some new ideas for implementation! If you've read too many books on self-development and the ideaof another makes you yawn - this is a book you'll love reading!

Historia
When Grace’s husband, Adam, inherits an isolated North Yorkshire cottage, they leave the bustle of London behind to try a new life. A week later, Adam vanishes without a trace, leaving their baby daughter, Millie, in her stroller on the doorstep. The following year, Grace returns to the tiny village on the untamed heath. Everyone - the police, her parents, even her best friend and younger sister - is convinced that Adam left her. But Grace, unable to let go of her memories of their love and life together, cannot accept this explanation.

ho hum
Revisado: 01-11-23
Interesting family dynamic but tiresome descriptions of trivialities, predictable romantic rescue, unengaging folklore/ghost story references, little appreciation for countryside. Couldn't figure out who-done-it but not really interesting enough to care.

Historia
With simple yet descriptive prose, this novel gives voice to Nana the cat and his owner, Satoru, as they take to the road on a journey with no other purpose than to visit three of Satoru's longtime friends. Or so Nana is led to believe. With his crooked tail - a sign of good fortune - and adventurous spirit, Nana is the perfect companion for the man who took him in as a stray. And as they travel in a silver van across Japan, with its ever-changing scenery and seasons, they will learn the true meaning of courage and gratitude, of loyalty and love.

A loveley extended parable
Revisado: 12-18-22
This is a book for those of us who both love life and have seen it through the lives of our beloved four-legged companions. Beautiful, echoingly resonant and hopeful.

Historia
Defying both civil authorities and the Mormon establishment in Salt Lake City, the renegade leaders of these Taliban-like theocracies are zealots who answer only to God; some 40,000 people still practice polygamy in these communities. At the core of Krakauer’s book are brothers Ron and Dan Lafferty, who insist they received a commandment from God to kill a blameless woman and her baby girl. Beginning with a meticulously researched account of this appalling double murder, Krakauer constructs a bone-chilling narrative of messianic delusion, polygamy, savage violence, and unyielding faith.

Rereadable

Fascinating, insightful, frightening and inspiring. As one who experiences God, upon occasion but has no religion, wants no religion, I found this book as well written, and on a more compelling topic than my previous reads of this talented author.
