Historia
London, April 1812. Eighteen-year-old Lady Helen Wrexhall is on the eve of her debut presentation to the Queen. Her life should be about gowns and dancing, and securing a suitable marriage. Instead, when one of her family's housemaids goes missing, Lady Helen is drawn to the shadows of Regency London. There, she finds William, the Earl of Carlston. He has noticed the disappearance, too, and is one of the few who can stop the perpetrators: a cabal of powerful demons that has infiltrated every level of society.

Not my genre
Revisado: 10-04-23
Somehow I missed the theme of fantasy. But kept it too long to return.
I enjoyed her descriptions, but thought the plot was going a different direction. Somehow I thought I was in historical fiction not fantasy fiction.

Historia
When Eleanor Atherton graduates from medical school near the top of her class in 1917, she dreams of going overseas to help the wounded, but her ambition is thwarted at every turn. Eleanor's parents insist she must give up medicine, marry a respectable man, and assume her proper place. While women might serve as ambulance drivers or nurses at the front, they cannot be physicians - that work is too dangerous and frightening. Nevertheless, Eleanor is determined to make more of a contribution than sitting at home knitting for the troops.

An absolute favorite
Revisado: 11-21-21
It is rare to come across an audio book that doesn’t lose momentum or become repetitive when this lengthy.
Cheers for The Woman at the Front. I wish the author had more historical based works. Highly recommend.

Historia
When their lives and personalities intersect, however, they discover that more than just a million-dollar dream home awaits them at the water’s edge. These three women (oh yes, Aunt Midge comes along for the ride!) arrive at their newfound mansion only to uncover what exactly it means to truly be "home." Filled with wit and charm, The Good Luck Girls of Shipwreck Lane is Kelly Harms's enchanting and heartfelt debut - a testament to the many, many ways love finds us, the power of a home-cooked meal, and just what it means to be lucky.

Tender, engaging, evoked emotion, strong, cohesive story line, wrapped in what seemed to be sound history of the era around the royal wedding of Princess Elizabeth.

Historia
January 1946: London is emerging from the shadow of the Second World War, and writer Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book subject. Who could imagine that she would find it in a letter from a man she’s never met, a native of the island of Guernsey, who has come across her name written inside a book by Charles Lamb.... As Juliet and her new correspondent exchange letters, Juliet is drawn into the world of this man and his friends - and what a wonderfully eccentric world it is.

The casting of the individual voices brought this to life in such a vibrant way, with the unabridged version exceedingly much better than the movie.
